XVI - The One with the Truth

Lisa's POV

"Lisa! Hanbin!" I turned around when I heard someone calling our names. It was Rosé and Wendy.

Despite the information I got from Hanbin, the look on Rosé's face when she looked at me and Hanbin was something I can't ignore. She looked at us with pure seriousness. Same with Wendy. They even looked at Hanbin intensely, which made him clear his throat.

Hanbin: Why are the two of you looking at me like that?

Wendy: You don't know or you're lying again?

Hanbin: Huh?

They started to gang up on Hanbin so I came in between them.

"What's wrong? What happened?

Rosé: He knows Lisa. He's 0126's best friend.

I just found out about it about a moment ago and here they were, knowing about it too.

"Yeah, I just found it out. Here." I handed them the metal plate on 0126's pod that Hanbin showed me.

Wendy: You've been hiding this all along?

Hanbin: Just a few sols ago. What's wrong?

I noticed how furious Wendy is towards Hanbin but Hanbin is as confused as I am right now. Rosé and Wendy told us everything they found in that library. Hanbin was shocked as I am. Based on his reaction, I knew he was telling the truth about not knowing a thing about 0126 besides the metal plate he saw when he was fumbling under the pod.

We still don't know how Hanbin lost his memories of his best friend but at the same time, I guess we lost our memories too with 0126. I guess all of us in the black room lost our memories when 0126 became mortal.

I looked at Hanbin and he looks so defeated right now. Like he lost someone very dear to him. Now I understand why he always wanted to visit South America and distract himself. He was just like me. He was just trying to feel okay.

"Ummm.. Lisa?"

Rosé suddenly caught my attention as I tried to comfort Hanbin.

Rosé: That's not the only thing we found out. It's about 0126.

Wendy gave Rosé a look that I can't tell what exactly it was.

"What is it?"

Rosé: 0126 says in his diary that he prefers to be called by another name.

Rosé: He wanted to be called Minho, Lisa.

"Minho? Like the name of Irene's father?" I asked confusedly and both Rosé and Wendy nodded.

Rosé: What if the reason why we can't read or hear both Minho and Irene's thoughts was that they're like us? Minho is 0126.

It finally sank into me. That's the only reason why we couldn't read and hear their thoughts. That's also the reason why Minho always gives me this look that I couldn't explain until now. He looks at me like he already knows me even if I haven't introduced myself.

He looks at me like I wasn't supposed to find him. Like our paths shouldn't cross each other. It all made sense now. What I don't get is how come he never said anything to me and why didn't he say anything about the secret to being mortal?

If he wrote a book or a diary on how we can escape the black room, how come he hid it from me? How come he acted like he didn't want any of us to know the truth? He didn't want us to be mortal just like him.
