XVIII - The One with the Sacrifice

Lisa's POV

I traveled for almost 4 hours to reach Mount Olympus. This is where Minho did it. This is where he sacrifices himself to Δίας (Dias) or most commonly known as Ζεύς (Zeus) and became mortal. According to Minho, I have to reach the top before my 72 hours are over.

According to him, the hike will take almost 2 days. Which means I have to get going.

I got my supplies with me in case I get hungry on my hike. He told me to bring Rosé on my journey but I didn't. I don't want to hurt Rosé more. I already said my goodbyes to her and I hope she could accept it and forgive me.

I still don't know why he insisted on bringing Rosé with me.

I started my hike and there were also some hikers I met along the way. I guess besides having the gift of hearing and reading people's thoughts, we also don't get tired easily unlike humans.

Unless it was just my adrenaline rushing through my veins.

Yeah, I guess it's just me, too eager to be human. Too eager to be with the woman I love.

I received some weird looks from the other hikers I passed by who took their breaks. I heard their thoughts in awe from seeing me push through without any hint of weariness. Each minute that passes by is a minute of wasting time.

Even though Minho assured me that the hike won't take 3 days long and also reminded me that I have the option to borrow some hiker's life who I met here if I failed to reach the top before my 72 hours is over, I couldn't waste any more time.

I feel like each time wasted is a time that Irene loses more of her memories of me.

I was hiking for 7 hours with only taking short breaks in between but then since it's pretty dark now, I decided to camp out. There were very few campers near the area which I concluded to be here before I arrived.

I just didn't expect to catch up on these people. I wonder if they have been here since yesterday.

I didn't bring a tent since I didn't hike here to camp. I started a fire and brought a hammock that I am now tying in between two big trees. I sat on a rock and tried to warm myself. I brought out a can of pork and beans and started eating.

I guess I finally felt the hunger. I was so preoccupied with so many thoughts in my head that I didn't notice my hunger earlier. I could hear some thoughts from fellow hikers but they were meters away from where I set up my hammock.

According to Minho, I can still sleep for the night and still reach the top before my 72 hours are over. Even though I wanted to still pursue my hike for the night, it was too dark and I might get lost finding the track.

I also can't take risks and push myself to continue hiking on a very dark path. I might get lost and that will prolong my journey.

I woke up earlier than the other hikers. It was just dawn when I decided to continue my hike after I fed myself with another canned food to give me energy.

According to what I heard yesterday from a hiker camping near me, we're already halfway there to reaching the top.

The thought of finally being with Joohyun without her forgetting about me, gave me more energy to pursue why I came here and continue my journey. I only took short breaks to drink water, eat and catch my breath.

The sun was about to set when I arrived at the top of the mountain.

For a moment there, I almost forgot why I came here because of the breathtaking scenery from where I stood. Before I reached the top, I met some hikers who were just about to go back. They must have reached the top before I even arrived here at Mount Olympus.
