(On a videotape)
Reginald Hargreeves strolls through the exercising area where all the siblings were training. Vanya walks quietly after her father, trying for him not to notice her recording everything. Young Luther was lifting 500 pounds, effortlessly. "Mind your form, Number One." "Yes, sir," Luther replied to their father. Reginald continued walking where he passed young Diego floating in a water tank. Diego looked bored floating there doing nothing. He would have much rather been training his knife skills. "How long has he been there?" Reginald asked the technician. The technician looked down onto his paper before replying, "6 hours sir." "He could come out at 10 hours," Reginald told the technician. Before their father walked off, Diego gave his father the finger. Next, Reginald passed Klaus, who shut his eyes in concentration, trying to make the objects behind him float. "Clear your mind," Reginald said quietly. "The voices!" Klaus screamed out, tears rolling down his cheeks. "The voices are there to serve you. Not the other way around. Your fear is your weapon. Now use it," Reginald said stepping back.
Klaus cleared his mind, took a deep breath and calmed the voices in his head. Slowly the objects behind him started levitating off the ground. Reginald claps Klaus on the shoulder and moves on. Klaus looks on as Vanya comes out from her hiding place. The objects clatter to the ground and Vanya shows him to be quiet. Young Allison was sitting on a bench reading a book as her father came to see how she was training. "Aren't you supposed to be training?" Reginald asked as she continued to ignore him. She looked up from her book, "I heard a rumour that I didn't have to." As easy as that her father was under her spell. He nodded and pushed open doors that led him to an additional training room. Allison returned to reading her book as Vanya was still recording everything. Vanya stops in her tracks as she sees monstrous tentacles coming out of the room. The soldiers trying to fight this monster were flying across the room. Reginald entered the room and nodded his head in approval. "Well done Number Six-" Reginald said before he was interrupted by Vanya, making her presence to him clear for the first time that evening. "Ben," Vanya says still recording everything. Reginald turns around looking at her up and down. "His name is Ben." She says again. In the background of the video you could see another soldier being thrown across the room. "You're not supposed to be down here," he says walking away to get Ben to stop. "We have names!" Vanya yelled after him.
Reginald continued walking to the last training area. "How's he doing?" he asked the technician on duty. "See for yourself. Should be arriving in 4...3...2..1." The technician replied. Vanya came walking from behind. On the recording you could see the inside of the room being normal. The training dummies were standing there with no living person in sight. Suddenly limbs were ripped off, knives were stabbed into the dummies as well as some of their heads were gone. In the centre of the chaos you could see a boy standing, bored, not minding everything going on around him. This boy's name was Five. "Slow it down," Reginald told the technician. As the technician slowed down the footage you could see the boy teleporting all around the room, inflicting all the chaos. Reginald smiles, impressed with his work. "He's perfect," Reginald says to no-one in particular. "He's reckless. One wrong miscalculation and he could get lost in time," the technician said as the footage resumed to its usual speed. "That won't happen would it?" Reginald asked the boy. Five looked at his father calmly and with a cool stare replied, "No father."
The video recording ends as Jinx looks up at her father reading the paper. "Father who were those two boys in the end?" Jinx asked, switching off the TV and walking towards her father. "Those would be your two brothers, Number Eight. They were Number Six and Number Five. Unfortunately Number Six passed away the day that I got you and a few years before that Number Five vanished. Now it's time for bed." Reginald closed his paper and exited the room leaving Jinx behind in the darkness. She was only 8 years old but she felt some kind of connection to Number Five. She went to her room and fell asleep quickly, dreaming about Number Five.
