A/N: This was a bit different for me to write. I kind of went out of my comfort zone a bit and tried a light lemon scene in the wedding. Let me know if you love it, hate it, etc. I tried to emulate more romance novel scenes for this - though I haven't read many books like that - so I hope it came through as natural?
I hope you all enjoy this chapter and I did mark the scene where the light lemon occurs. Thank you for reading!
The Wedding
It seemed like the world had hit fast forward on the upcoming days. I barely blinked and the day was over. Some days I felt like I hadn't accomplished a single thing in the world, other days I felt like I had gotten so many things packed into the day. Finally, the day of the wedding dawned.
It was a beautiful day. When I was able to look out of the window, there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Not a cloud on the horizon either, therefore, I didn't get the sense of impending rain. It was going to be a nice day, with a bright sun in the sky.
Beth came into my room at 6 am. Not that I wasn't up for most of the night in anticipation of the wedding day. When Beth came into my room, she found me sitting on my chair, reading a book.
"You didn't sleep did you?" Beth demanded, marching over to the window and opening the curtains.
"Not a wink," I advised my sister who merely shook her head in disapproval.
"Come on," Beth motioned towards the bathroom. "We are on a tighter schedule than usual."
"I know," I marked the page in my book and rose to my feet. I followed my sister into the bathroom, where she was in the process of drawing a bath. She threw in a bath bomb.
"You have forty minutes," she stated. I raised an eyebrow but complied. I undressed and sank into the warm water. Beth handed me a razor, and the shaving cream before she disappeared into my room.
Once I was finished cleaning and shaving, I got out of the bathtub. I wrapped the towel robe around my body and opened the door. Beth looked up from the vanity where she was setting out the make-up supplies.
"That was faster than anticipated," Beth stated, checking her watch. "You have an additional eleven minutes."
"Thanks for the extra time," I rolled my eyes at my sister and sank down on the window seat to look out of the window. The outside was a flurry of activity. The wranglers were out and about – feeding the horses, cleaning stalls. They also had to finish setting up the tables for the caterers.
"Breakfast for the bride-to-be!" Gator knocked on the door. Beth opened it and brought the tray of food into the room.
"Thanks, Gator!" I called out. He gave me a smile and a wink before disappearing back downstairs.
Beth and I sat down and ate what we could of the breakfast. While my stomach was churning, Beth's was not. She urged me to eat more than what I had picked at. I complied, seeing as I did not need to faint at the altar, and then Beth had me sit in the chair.
By now, it was already around seven-thirty in the morning. She grabbed the hair dryer and a brush. Within twenty minutes, my hair was sleek and shiny. I barely recognized myself.
"You could have been a hairdresser," I told my sister in awe as I touched the silky locks of my hair. It had grown out a bit and was currently longer than I liked. Beth had discouraged me from getting it cut last week at the hairdresser, because she said my options for a hairstyle decreased.
"Ha, I hate people, remember," Beth gave me a mean face in the mirror. I started to laugh. "Stop laughing!" She tugged on a part of my hair gently as a reminder that she was messing with my hair.
