A/N: Betcha all didn't think I was going to update any time soon? Right? Honestly, neither did I :D

Cowboys and Dreamers

It was always a luxury whenever Ryan had a day off from the chores of the Ranch. Therefore, the next time that he didn't have to report to Rip at whatever time of the morning, we slept in. It was probably around two in the afternoon by the time we finally decided to get up.

I had a hard time sleeping the night before, with the babies kicking and flopping around. It's like trying to sleep with a dog digging on your stomach. Ryan, stayed up with me, rubbing my back and stomach. Nothing we attempted helped to soothe the babies.

When we finally dragged ourselves out of bed, it was around 2 in the afternoon. It was uncharacteristic of the two of us, but it was much-needed rest. Ryan had gotten up early to care for Skye, who needed to go outside and put food in her bowl.

Once we were up, Ryan and I had a late brunch. We didn't get dressed in regular clothing; we stayed in our loungewear. Once we had finished brunch and cleaned up the kitchen, Ryan and I went to the couch. We decided to watch a movie, Ryan only leaving the house to take care of the dog.

Surprisingly, even though we had such a lazy day, we didn't lose any sleep. We both must have desperately needed to rest because the next morning Ryan was back up at the crack of dawn. I yawned as I padded out of bed while Ryan was in the bathroom getting a morning shower. I went into the kitchen where I started making breakfast.

"We are shutting down the spike camp," Ryan sighed, sitting at the kitchen table. He started to eat his breakfast. "Breaking that down today."

"Need any help?" I offered, pouring coffee into his thermos, inhaling the rich, bitter scent in envy. It took me an exaggerated amount of time to screw the lid onto his thermos.

"Nah," he kissed me goodbye, accepting the warm thermos of coffee as we stood on the porch. The air was chilly, the sun just cresting the horizon, casting the sky with pinkish hues. "Do something fun for yourself today!"

"Like what?" I yelled across the field as Ryan walked down to work. He shrugged, turning around to smirk.

"Go into town or something?"

"Sounds fantastic," I knelt to pay the dog some attention as she jumped up, putting her paws on my calves. I scratched Sky's ears while watching Ryan disappear into the barn. I sighed and went inside to get dressed.

As I was getting dressed, I realized that Ryan did have a point. I didn't have any clothing to wear at this point besides a couple of Beth's dresses. They were even getting too small to wear. As I was almost seven months along now, it was necessary to go purchase some more clothing.

Therefore, I decided to follow his advice. I went up to the main house to grab the truck keys. At this point, we would have to keep a set at the house, just in case. Once I had the keys and told my father where I was heading off to, I drove into town. Thankfully, there was a maternity shop on the main strip where I could find some clothing that fit.

I found a few pairs of leggings and several loose tunic tops. I also begrudgingly grabbed a few dresses. I knew I would still keep stealing Ryan's flannels and wearing the leggings. This movement caused pain in my back once I made it to the café.

"Honey, do you need to sit down?" A kind woman asked me, noticing I was holding my back with one hand and the wall with another. I winced and sank into a chair.

"How far along are you?" She asked, a knowing smile on her face.

"Seven months," I hissed an exhale, counting to ten as the pain passed.
