Chapter 2: Guardians Unveiled

We pull up to the tallest building in the city, with the big sign "Highland Industry". My heart drops noticing how tall our building really is. I have only been inside about a maximum of 20 times in my lifetime. My dad parks the car in the parking garage, and we start to get out.

"You ready to see what dad has been working on sweetheart" my dad says while walking in front of me to open the big glass door.

"I am so excited to see" I say while following him.

I notice that we are going into a totally different entrance then we usually do, but I don't think much of it. The walls were all glass, and you could see 100 miles away, I swear. The floor's were covered in rugs that continued for miles.

"Mr. Highland so great to see you today and Ms. Highland of course" a tall man with blue eyes and blonde hair speaks.

I analyzed him, I have never seen him before. Maybe he was someone that is working for my dad, probably. He has a sharp jawline and a muscular body. You can tell from his dark navy-blue suit he was built. I loved the way he was dressed he had a suit with a white undershirt and a black tie. Business shoes and classic glasses placed on his face. His eyes were like looking into the ocean, that's how blue they were.

"Why thank you Niall, it's a pleasure to see you today as well" My dad says while shaking his hand.

Niall, that's his name, I have never heard of him before. What if he is a body guard?

"Right this way sir" Niall speaks while directing us to a business room with tons of chairs and business people.

My dad enters and I follow right behind. Niall holds the door open for the two of us and then lets it shut and stands by the door.

"Tiffin so glad to see you buddy" A guy stands up to greet my dad.

"Ronald I can't believe I haven't seen you in so many years" my dad says while reaching in for a hug.

They must be close or go back far for my dad to hug him. I just stand behind my dad staring at how many business people are actually here. This must be a very important meeting.

"Sweetheart you can sit right here" my dad says while pointing to a seat right next to him.

As my dad sits down he grabs his briefcase and starts to open it to grab the papers he has prepared for this meeting. He then stands up and goes to the front of the room where he is the presenter.

"Goodmorning everyone, I know why you are here and that's because I have some big news. My daughter Avery here is joined with me today for the first portion of this meeting." he says while pointing at while I wave and smile to everyone.

I am getting nervous of the amount of people here, I feel like I am on display.

"Now to start us off on a good note, Avery here is going to be joining us this month to work for us" my dad says with a smile and starts the clapping.

Everyone around me starts clapping and stands up to look at me and smile. I stand up and thank everyone because I feel obligated too. I knew that I was going to start working in our business but I didn't think it would be this soon. I catch Niall in the corner of my eye smile and silently clap so that I can see. I really want to get to know this guy. He looks about 20 or more I am just guessing.

Everyone sits back down and points their attention towards my dad. I sit down and cross my legs and start shaking my foot in nervousness, he said the good news. What is the bad news?

"Avery is going to start with a small office job but as she grows up she will be taking on bigger roles, so for starting I have made her, her own office and she will start with publishing some news articles" My dad says as he points to the screen of some topics that our business has to report on.
