Ch. 3- Blonde Cyborg

After putting a sticky note of the mission info onto King's forehead, I left my apartment. It is currently 12pm. I can't even be mad about the association giving me something to do at this time of day. This is a normal time that people are awake.

"Still..." I sighed, rolling onto my back. I was laying across a rock I'd ripped from the busted street as I floated toward City Z. Thankfully, it's a city I am right next to. It'll be a relatively fast mission, I guess. "But... fixing roads...? All I'm actually doing is leveling it out. I can't even make the road myself. This is stupid." I dragged my hands down my face at the thought.

I arrived at Z City in about 20 minutes. I followed the coordinates the association sent me, and I was at the burn site in less than another 10 minutes. There was a huge crack in the center of what seems to be the main street of this... explosion? I don't really understand how everything can get burned up like this with none of the buildings getting blown away. Did they use a flamethrower or something?

Shrugging those thoughts away, I got to work. In the middle of me raising all the streets up to get rid of the destroyed asphalt and sidewalks, there was a man's voice. I couldn't tell what it was saying, but it was definitely saying something. I jumped off my rock and onto the main street.

"Helloooo? Where are you, citizen in need?" I called out, my hands cupped around my mouth.

"I am not a citizen, but I do require assistance," a monotonous voice said a few meters behind me.

I walked over to the voice and found a torn-up cyborg boy. "Oh, hi," I greeted. "It's a good thing you said something. I was going to take the first layer of all the roads and crush them into a ball."

"Yes, I thought something like that would happen. Would you please remove me from the road before you carry out that plan?" he asked.

"Is that all the assistance that you want? I'm pretty much done with my job anyway, I could... put you back together?" I offered.

He stared at me a while. "Hero name: Ground Breaker, Age: 20, affiliated with hero King. No criminal history, address: Y City apartment complex Suite Homes, apartment number 23," he listed off my information. I guess he was analyzing me when he stared. What a helpful tool. Maybe I should keep him. "You have no prior knowledge in technology, so how would you be able to 'put me back together'?"

"That's a good question. I was kinda just talking out my ass," I responded. He quirked a brow. I shrugged at him and picked him up. Even if he doesn't want my help in rebuilding, I do need to get him out of my way. I brought my floating rock back down to us, since I stupidly jumped off of it, and stepped on it to float us back up. "By the way," I said, getting his attention. "Probably warn people before you say their social security numbers."

"But I never said-"

"Alright, I'm getting to work now," I interrupted. It hurts my feelings a little that he didn't get that I was joking. But it's okay, he's a robot.

Once I placed him on the surface of my rock, I took in a big breath and moved my hands in quick but strong movements. The first meter came off the streets. I set the newly leveled earth in line with the rest of the city, then I raised the ground that the buildings were on. I took off the same 100 cm and the charred buildings with them. After that, I crushed everything into a massive ball and threw it out of city limits.

I cracked my knuckles and grinned in satisfaction. Easy job, easy money. I looked back at the cyborg beside my feet and scanned over his form again. His body looks like it could have been created by Metal Knight, though Metal Knight doesn't give much humanoid features to the face. Even so, there's no way that he's weak. Maybe he's the one that caused all the charring.
