"I don't know about you, but I don't think the book you're looking for even exists, Omega."

Calliope collapsed against the shelving, her feet were absolutely killing her. Omega grunted as he hopped down from the ladder, paging through a book he found.

"That it?" She asked hopefully, waiting a few seconds until he shook his head. "Fuck."

"Come on, it's here somewhere, and you just sitting there is not helpful."

"I've been plenty of help!" She defended. "I gave you six possible options, my good sir."

"Six incorrect options."

Cal groaned, throwing her head back against the books behind her. "I am tired and hungry. When do you need this fancy book?"

"Preferably within the next two days..."

"That's great! We can go eat and sleep and we'll come back tomorrow! Bam! Solution. Now, let's go." She took his outstretched hand as she jumped up, tugging him to the door.

"What's this pile over here?" He pointed with a free hand to a stack of old books on one of the cluttered desks.

"Those are the books that tickled my fancy."

"You know you can't remove them from the library without authorized permission, right?"

"Okay, who do I consult regarding that matter?"

"Papa Emeritus..." Oh, that's easy. He wouldn't mind- "The Second."

Her stomach dropped and she scowled. "Okay, so I won't be reading them."

"You can come to the library to read them but I have the only key," Omega told her this as he locked the door behind them.

"Can I borrow it sometime?"

"Depends, what do I get from this?" He eyed her up and down suspiciously, testing the handle to make sure the door was actually locked.

"Besides my amazing company?" Omega looked unimpressed.

Cal sighed."Your eyes are so expressive and it's hurting my feelings."

He blinked owlishly at her, still placid and unbothered. "You're lucky that I'm desperate for entertainment... uhm, I can cook for you?"

She eyed him uncertainly. She didn't even know if he liked her cooking, she hadn't asked. He thought this over for a second, his luminous blue eyes staring off into the distance.

"Deal."

Calliope grinned, clapping her hands victoriously, humming a delighted "thank you" as she continued their trek to the kitchens. She was surprised that Omega allowed her to drag him along like this, but she wasn't complaining.

"You are quite oblivious."

"What makes you say that?"

"I could just as easily have asked for your soul." She paused at the archway of the kitchens before continuing onwards.

"It's not worth much, anyway."

Omega barked out a laugh and Cal grinned at the sound. She'd heard chuckles, chortles, you name it, from him, but never this kind of laugh. It was... nice.

She finally let go of him, pulling the neglected recipe book from the cupboard. Calliope leaned on the counter as she paged through it. Omega copied her position, his shoulder pressed against hers.

"So, since I sold my cooking abilities, what do you want to eat?"

Omega pulled the book closer to him with his index finger, and only now did Calliope notice his claws. And not only that, his ink-dipped fingers. Literally. They were absolutely black up to his knuckle, blending out into the pale grey of his hands.
