The atmosphere in Terzo's room was serene, the only sounds were the crackling of the fire and the occasional page turning. Cal knew she had to put the book down some time or another, the words growing blurry as she tired. Terzo playing with her hair didn't help, either.
She risked a glance up at him. He seemed close to falling asleep himself. "I thought we were taking a break from the books," He mumbled, gently readjusting the arm her head was resting on.
Taking this as her cue to get ready for bed, she leaned over him to drop the book on his nightstand. She didn't have time to reclaim her previous position as he pulled her against him. She smiled to herself, replying. "That doesn't count, it was just interesting."
"Are you interested in witchcraft?" He sighed into her hair, removing an arm from her shoulders to wrap it around her waist.
"Of course."
Terzo chuckled, switching the bed lamp off, the only light now emitting from the fireplace. "We'll focus on witchcraft some other time. I don't have enough energy to delve into that topic."
She hummed in agreement, albeit amused.
"Is this comfortable for you?"
"Absolutely. You can't deny it," He quipped smugly, and even though she couldn't see his face, she knew he was grinning.
"I cannot," She agreed easily, already dozing off.
"Knew it."

When Cal awoke, she was surprised at how much their positions shifted in the night. She couldn't recall moving at all, though. Judging by the patterns he was tracing on her shoulder, he was awake too.
She glanced up at him and, unsurprisingly, her earlier assumption was correct. He didn't notice her looking at him as he stared out of the window behind her, gnawing his bottom lip in contemplation. He seemed wide awake, meaning he's been up for quite a while now...
Calliope didn't say anything, waiting for him to notice. He looks worried...
Finally snapping out of whatever trance he was in, his gaze flickered down to her. His brows raised in surprise as he stared down at her with a look she couldn't place.
"You have a habit of staring at people," He remarked dryly, mismatched eyes still assessing her.
"I don't stare at people, I stare at you," Cal scoffed, stretching her free arm.
Terzo managed a small smile, nodding as he turned his gaze back to the window. She half expected him to ask 'Am I not people?', but he didn't. He was severely distracted.
"What time is it?" She asked, still trying to decipher what he could possibly be thinking.
"Somewhere around ten," He murmured, still tracing circular patterns onto her arm. It gave her chills. The pleasant kind, at least.
"Don't you have a very serious job to get to?"
"No, fuck that," He scoffed, rolling his eyes.
She chuckled dryly. "Alright... so what's on your mind? You seem... frowny."
"Just thinking," Terzo murmured, meeting her eyes once more. "I believe we still have some things to discuss, no?"
"What 'things'?"
"Your past, mostly," He murmured, still eying her intently. Her breath caught in her throat, but she nodded. She promised, after all, and it was about time. As if reading her thoughts, he continued quietly. "You promised."
