Warning: Blood!

A scream shattered the night into a million pieces.

Claws slashed the moonlight and blood spurted from the gash on the catwun major's flank. Juliette writhed in the dirt, pain filling every cell of her being.

Her attacker, a lionwun major, slashed down on Juliette again and again, his attacks becoming fiercer and faster until Juliette could not even move for ripped muscles and broken bones. Her throat was dry and scratchy for screaming for so long, but no sound came out.

Juliette's body, once a neatly groomed sheet of gleaming black fur, was now torn to pieces, with barely any fur left and blood pooled around her. In her weakened form, Juliette had nothing left to do but watch the lionwun raise his paw to deliver the killing blow, and in that instant, Juliette's life flashed before her eyes.

Her twin brother falling from the tree in nursery and being announced dead only seconds later. Massive oak doors swinging open on her first day of school, a lionwun cub befriending her when nobody else would. Comforting the same lionwun cub when his grandmother died. Singing hymns at her mother's funeral. Burying her father three years later when there wasn't enough money to afford a funeral. The first announcement that the Hollowpox had killed. Attending the funeral of her sister. Promising her friend, the now adult lionwun that they would protect each other no matter what. Waiting at their normal meeting place. The flash of vivid green in his eyes, and the sting of betrayal when he struck the first blow. The heartbreaking realisation that he had contracted the Hollowpox...

Juliette's eyes snapped open just as her best friend's paw crushed her skull and everything vanished.

I'm sorry it was so short today, but I was going to do some kind of afterlife bit, but I don't want to offend anybody if they believe in different afterlives or if their religion says something different, so I just left it short.

The next one will be longer, I promise.
