Visiting Anubis

Inpu sat at Bryan's desk reading archaic tomes, skimming through pages. Effortlessly memorising every word. He wasn't the Egyptian Encyclopaedia for nothing. Cough cough Ragnarok cough

"Hey babe?" Bryan called, Inpu looked from the page and saw Bryan by the archway, he strode in and sat himself on his desk.

"Yes dear?" Inpu replied, the Jackal/Kitsune gazed at his husband, he looked nervous. "Bryan dear, what's wrong?"

"Well- I was.. wondering..." Bryan began, his wings fluttered a little - a sign of nervousness. "I- I was wondering if I could.. meet your... dad?" He finished, looking straight into Inpu's purple eyes.

"Wait- really?!" Inpu exclaimed "but I thought you didn't like the Underworld?" It was true, Bryan feared the Underworld.

One of the many reasons for his fear was when he was seduced by the Seductive Rose and made him travel to Tartarus, the deepest, darkest, most dangerous place in the entirety of Hades.

He saw things... things that made him wish he were blind.

He heard things... things that made him wish he were deaf.

He didn't talk much about what happened, just that he'd been down there, and he doesn't plan on going back.

"Yes, I don't like the Underworld, but you said that the Egyptian Underworld is more or less a lot of sand right? So it's safe... right?"

Inpu smiled at his husband, a smile that easily calmed Bryan's troubled nerves. "I would have you down there too." Bryan remarked, somewhat flirtatiously.

Inpu chuckled "And I won't let anything happen to you." He declared as he held Bryan's hand and kisses it.

Before leaving Bryan decided to surprise Inpu. you see, a while back Bryan had a certain outfit made for himself, Egyptian garbs. He was planning on wearing them for Cleopatra's ball all those years ago but it wasn't finished yet.

So it's just been collecting dust in his closet. But now seems like the perfect time to wear the ensemble.

'I want to make a good first impression.' Bryan thought.

This but gold instead of orange and white instead of black. ✨

Bryan admired himself in the mirror, 'I look pretty good, maybe I'll add a garland to it to give a pop of colour! But what will Inpu think? What if he doesn't like it?' Bryan's thoughts derailed.

'What if this isn't good enough? I mean Anubis is royalty. Maybe I'm not good enough, I mean yeah Inpu did tell me that Anubis did accept me but- what if he was just saying that so he could have a relationship with his son...?'

'I mean I'm no royal... I'm just a son of Aphrodite.'

"Hey Bryan honey, are you ready-!" Inpu walked in and immediately froze, he saw Bryan turn to him. His face blushed the most intense red, redder than rubies. He gripped the archway.

"Hi babe... does this look good."

'Good? No you look gorgeous! No magnificent! No, oh c'mon Inpu use your encyclopaedic knowledge of adjectives-!'

...

'indescribable'.

"Br-Bryan, you look..." he couldn't finish his sentence, he needed to catch his breath. Bryan looked at him, "Are you okay Inpu?" He asked, moving closer towards the flustered Pharaoh.

After a bit, Inpu finally regained his posture and gazed at his husband, "Bryan... you are indescribable, I can't even think of a word to describe you with." His eyes were so filled with love and awe, it was so immense that even Bryan could feel the love radiating off his husband.

It made Bryan blush, "Really?"

"Truly."

They finally made it to the Egyptian Underworld, and we're getting closer to the Throne room. Inpu was right, it was a lot of sand, but there were also rivers and trees which Inpu had neglected to mention. It was like an oasis.

Inpu, thank to his status as Pharaoh made sure no monsters or wandering souls bothered them.

Bryan didn't know it, but desert flowers sprung from under his feet. Inpu noticed and smiled at the beautiful flowers that tailed his oblivious husband.

"We've made it." Inpu stated, Bryan began to fidget with his hair, swirling it around his fingers. Inpu noticed. "Honey, believe me he'll love you." He retold him.

Bryan nodded, and the two walked in, into the throne room. Faded hieroglyphs were acutely carved into the walls of the room and there were tall statues of Anubis that were slightly corroded due to lack of care.

And of course, a gold-lined throne with two unlit torches by either side.

"Hello? Dad!" Inpu yelled. Bryan held Inpu's arm, a little scared.

"Who goes there?" A voice boomed. Inpu groaned, "Dad, It's me Inpu, you know? your son." He deadpanned. "My husband wanted to meet you."

"Uhh... H-hello." Bryan squeaked, "it's nice to finally meet you."

"Inpu, my son! And his husband! My my, did my birthday come early?" Anubis joked, "Hello Bryan, I've heard a many good things! And must I say, you are breathtaking! If I had a physical body, rest assured I'd be needing a breather!"

Bryan smiled and giggled, "Aww, thank you!", though a bit weirded out, he knew his father-in-law meant well. Inpu then grabbed Bryan by the waist and pecked his cheek, "Indescribable." He opined.

"My son. I see why you could never move on." Anubis chortled, Bryan laughed as Inpu blushed, "Dad, I love Bryan for more than his looks. I love his confidence, his generosity, his tenderness, his liveliness, his headstrong impulsiveness, and above all...

That perfect salad he makes me."

The winged man held his husbands arm as he laughed,
"Oh really!" Bryan smiled as Anubis howled at his sons words.

For the rest of the meet, Anubis and Bryan made it their mission to embarrass Inpu as much as possible.

When it came time for the couple to leave, Inpu and Bryan bid Anubis farewell, promising to visit again.

Bryan smiled so much, he was worried over nothing!
