This is so bad...
Atlas's Point Of View:
I glared at the early sky and groaned, wanting to pull my covers over my face but I could hear that Lotus wasn't awake yet as they were still snoring, and that meant free time.
Begrugingly, I pulled my head off my pillow and stretched my arms, listening for the clicks and clacks of my joints.
"Good morning, Atlas." My eyes lazily crossed the room and towards Femi, who while in bed was wearing her glasses and reading some novel. She seemed relaxed, content even.
I should've worried that her peppy voice might wake Lotus up but I know that my sibling can sleep through pretty much anything.
"Morning." I grumbled back to her, before swiftly getting out of bed, grabbing a change of clothes, and fleeting for the bathroom, but Femi had something left to say.
"See you before Lotus wakes up?"
I merely hummed in response.
As I quickly got dressed, not bothering to deal with my hair - that was a problem for later - I was gazing out towards the sky, fixating on the brightening blues.
Based on the sky, I had about an hour before I needed to return, and that was more than enough time.
I flailed my wings a little, trying to loosen them up for the big flight ahead.
Upon seeing my wings through the mirror, it doesn't take someone as smart as Femi or Dadpu to tell that I had larger wings than anyone elses in the family.
Lotus's wings were tiny when compared to mine, but much less of a nusance.
And Ricarro's... his were small too, not as small as Lotus's but still, small.
I hated my wings sometimes. They got annoying in small spaces and because of their size, it's hard to find places where I can fully stretch my wings.
The memory of my wings not fitting through the Egyptian camp's doors as they were too tall and too wide to fit through. I was stuck admiring the little closets from the doorway.
Lotus had tears stains on their face, they were laughing so much.
'Such a lame memory.' I thought as my face turned red in shame at the memory. 'I'll never live it down.'
Finally dressed, and since I didn't need to put on makeup, I was ready to go. But before leaving, I had to check my Dadpu's room.
Dadpu was sleeping, as silent as death so I glided my way outside, treating the floor as though it was made off brittle glass.
I made my way to the garden, and gazed at it in content. There was dew on the flowers, a chill in the air, and clouds in the sky. Perfect.
I stretched my wings out, letting them expand as far as they could. According to Femi, both of my wings stretched to a width of three meters.
But as far as I was concerned, they were simply just very big wings.
I took in the feeling of control in my wings and with one great beat of them, I was off of the ground and into the air, the wind whistling in my ears as I flew into the sky, as high I could.
Laughter escaped me as I realised the earth was becoming foggier and foggier.
I was racing the wind.
The start line was the ground.
The finish line was the clouds.
Higher, higher, higher.
