Savannah was, in fact, not okay after another day on the couch; she had just felt off since she sank to her knees in front of the porcelain god at Brock and Jessica's that Sunday. She called in again on Tuesday, lying under a fluffy blanket on the couch with the temperature dropping low enough that she was comfortable. Empty sleeves of crackers, discarded bottles of water, and ginger ale lay around the couch; Jiji sat on the back of the couch, watching over her. He would follow her from the couch to the bathroom whenever the need to empty her stomach would arise.

The familiar sound of her brother's rumbling work truck parking in front of her house made Savannah whimper as she buried her head in the blanket. His thunderous footsteps up the front porch steps; he knocks on the door loudly once, twice, then waits.

"Savannah, I know you're home.", Brock bellowed into the house.

She groaned, covering her head as he knocked again.

"Savannah, I'm giving you until the count of five to open the door.", he warned, knocking on the door harder this time. "One.", he started counting.

Savannah rolled over, looking over the top of the couch. She could see Brock's silhouette outside her front door. He wouldn't walk in, would he? "Go away, Brock, I'm fine!", she hollered back.

"Two!", he said.

She rolled her eyes, sinking back down into the couch.

"Three!"

Brock grumbled as he dug his keys from his pocket, searching for the right one; he knocked on the door one more time. "Four!", he hollered. With a sigh, he unlocked the door. Shaking his head, he turned and shut it. Once he was inside, he walked over to the couch, peering over it and looking down at his sister. "Five.", he said, crossing his arms.

"Brock...", she whined, covering herself up.

He walked around the couch, pushing the empty bottles out of his way as he went. "You don't reply to my messages or phone calls for two days. Jack went in to see his grandma this morning before coming in; the nursing home said you called in again today.", he said, sitting down. He reached over, placing the back of his hand on her forehead.

Savannah slapped his hand away. "I'm fine, it's just the flu or something.", she said, burrowing back into the blanket.

"Uh-huh, well, you have a doctor's appointment in fifteen minutes.", he said, resting his elbows on his knees.

Savannah narrowed her eyes at him, "How did you—", she paused, realizing she had texted Jessica and told her she had called the doctor yesterday,  "Jess told you." She frowned.

"Yup, come on. I'll wait for you.", he said, standing up and offering his hand.

She knew he wouldn't leave, at least not until after her appointment anyway. Reluctantly, Savannah pulled herself off the couch and padded to her bedroom, grumbling the whole way.

Savannah slammed the truck door harder than necessary. She knew Brock's hovering came from a good place, but right now, she wanted to punch him in the face as he climbed out of the truck, following behind her.
