"Mommyyy" Came a whisper from across the mattress; eye's wide as he poked his mother. "Up, mommy!"
Ricky came out of the bedroom holding a small red jacket in hand. "Oh no, no, no, buddy." He urged, pulling the toddler away from the bed and into his arms. "Lets not wake up mommy today, she didn't get much sleep last night. Come on Grandma is going to be here soon"
John pouted having been scolded by his father who placed him on a kitchen chair with a bowl of fruit loops in front of him. He took the blue plastic spoon in his hand and shoveled a mound of brightly colored loops into his mouth.

"You know you're going to have to start doing these things on your own when the baby comes don't you?" Ricky remarked, helping John pull his superman t-shirt over his head. John shook his head fiercely. "Yes you do. Me and mommy will help you a little bit but you need to learn how to get ready all by yourself. You're a big boy now" He spoke gently, adjusting the button on his son's jeans before there was a knock at the door.
"Gamma!" John shrieked excitedly as he raced to the front door
"Coming!" Ricky shouted lightly from the hallway. Scooping up John, who was trying desperately to open the child proof door knob, he opened the door. "Thank you so much" He smiled at the person on the other side, "a kid at daycare is sick and we can't risk him getting sick right now, especially Amy"
"No problem" Margaret replied with a smile, looking around the messy apartment. "...What happened in here?"
Ricky pointed at the squirmy child in his arms, "Ask this one" John grinned.
"How's Amy doing?" She asked, setting her bag on the shelving of the bookcase.
He sighed, adjusting John's weight in his right arm. "She didn't get much sleep last night, again"
"Braxton hicks?"
"No, acid reflux. But if it's not that it's braxton hicks, she can't get much relief these days"
Margaret was sympathetic, "Poor thing just needs rest. What time is her appointment?"
"11:15. Maybe the doctor can prescribe her something, I don't know what to do"
"Well you've certainly got your hands full" She gestured towards the grinning boy in her son's arms, "come here." Taking John from him, she grabbed her purse, gave him a kiss on the cheek, "we'll see you later", and turned to leave.
"Bye" He called out the door, "bye buddy be good for Grandma" before shutting it.
The noise caused her to stir; rustling under the covers, he saw one eye open. "Morning sunshine"
"Was that your mom?" Amy asked, trying to open her other eye. He nodded. "What time is it?"
"Quarter to 10, how you feeling?"
She groaned, placing an arm over her face, "Like someone poured a vat of acid down my throat and then punched me in the stomach."
His face was sympathetic, "I made you some breakfast"
"I'm not hungry"
"Be that as it may, you need to eat. Our baby isn't going to feed itself. Come on, I'll feed you"
"I'm not a baby Ricky, I can feed myself"
"I know you can, just thought I'd help. "He helped her off their sofa bed, "Enjoy your toast and yogurt"
"Oh joy, plain toast and biter yogurt...yummy" She mumbled, taking in the sight of her very plain, non-acidic breakfast choices.
He sighed a little annoyed, "I can make you something else, Amy"
