THENJIWE
NYAMBOSE HOUSEHOLD.

the next day....

Its as if at the nyathi house they need me as soon as a cat can blink. Am covered in a big heavy blanket that is suffocating my breath. I cant even have freedom to wipe my tears. The three women mr nyambose married are sweeping where am supposed to set my foot on. Yes.! They are no longer my parents. They are the nyambose people and i..am NYATHI.

I got in the car and still heard my siblings crying. Aunt wanted to burn my books as instructed but i packed them before she could come in time. Maybe i will see them at the school.  There is nothing that will even nake ne happy to see them and..thats if my new husband agrees to let me school.

The ride was long or it is long cause it took us an hour to get where we sre going. It is a nice car ..my siblings took pictures to show me since i wasnt allowed to go out till they come and pick me up. I was sitting with two women and they still didnt allow me to take off my blanket so that i can breath.
When the car stopped my heart jumped. I still dont know who am married to cause the refused to tell me. We got off nicely but i wanted to faint there as my heart is beating so fast. I followed them and walking in through the gate they started chanting and singing.  We walked in the house where they instucted me to sit down.
Nkule's mom  : you husband will remove your blanket and you will get to know him.
Nkule's aunt  : lets leave before he chase us out of the room.

I hold both my hands and try to remove the sweat on my palms but that is nothing i can deal with now cause am scared. I heard the door getting open and it closed making me mute and hold my movement like a statue. The blanket started to be less heavy . Even facing down i saw light appearing. It fell off my sholders ..i saw his shoes and i wanted to look at his face but i was told it is disrespectful.
Nkululeko  : ngiya kwamukela kwa nyathi.
(I welcome you in the nyathi family.)
His voice made me look up to him. I received the shock of my life. I gasp and held my mouth.
Thenjiwe  : what are you doing here.? Wait did anyone see you coming in here.?
Nkululeko  : yes.
Thenjiwe  : if they find out that you took my blanket off instead of my husband..you will have a bullet in your mouth.
He smiled .
Thenjiwe  : are you related to this family.?
Nkululeko  : injalo.
      (Yes)
Thenjiwe  : do you know who am i married to by any chance.? I want to know what to expect but if its banzi..i might hang myself with your shoelaces.  They seem to be stronger than my heart.
A knock on the door made me sit down and cover myself back again. What if its him?
Nkululeko  : ngena.!
    (Come in.!)
The door closed after the person got in. I heard a woman's voice laughing.
Zamo : are you scared to see your wife yini Nkululeko.?
I quickly removed my blanket and watched as the woman sat next to me.
Nkululeko  : besiqoqa kunge kdala.
( we talked not long ago.)
Zamo : sawbona
  (Hi.)
She smiled and she is wearing the traditional wife clothes.
I just looked at her and looked at the man infront of me.
Thenjiwe  : what did you just call him.?
I ask with tears on a verge to fall.
Zamo : ohh..this is our husband.  Nkululeko nyathi.
Immediately i looked at him they fell off my eyes.  Did she just say our.?? The driver i met the other day was my husband to be.
This man here is nkululeko.? The most feared nkululeko. A thirty two year old man  is looking good as if he is still twenty something.
I got scared and looked down.
Zamo : let me leave both of you. I will come and visit for lunch shlobo.
God have shame.!
He sat down after the wife left and closed the door. He sat on a chair looking at my direction.
Nkululeko  : sorry i didnt introduce myself.
I just kept quite and tried by all means to hold back my tears.
Nkululeko  : am nkululeko.  The one who left is my first wife. She will be with you till you get used to your new home and ut would be better if both of you get along. I wouldnt want any wife drama.
Well thats the problem. What if she hates me.
Nkululeko  : we will get to know each other as days go by nje ngo mkami.
    ( as my wife.)
He stopped talking and am sure he is still thinking of a new rule to give to me. He stood up
Nkululeko  : this week is yours.
He opened the door and exited.  What did he mean by this week is mine.?? Am i also losing my womanity.??

My phone beeped and it was a call from my younger sister Nkanyezi.
Thenjiwe  : nkanyi.?
Nkanyezi  : sisi. How are you.?? Are they treating you fine already.
Thenjiwe  : not much that i can say nana. Are you ok.?
Nkanyezi  : i miss you. Lubalalo took my apple and no one scolds him now.
What a spoult brat lubalalo is just because he is a boy.
Thenjiwe : why dont you go to my room and try to find something.
Nkanyezi  : they already cleaned it.
Well its like they got rid of a huge burden.
Thenjiwe  : its ok but remember that you are a star. My star..you look bright when you smile so dont let anything stop you from smiling.
Nkanyezi  : will you come and visit during the week.?
Thenjiwe  : i'll have to ask permission from my husband.
Nkanyezi  : ohh. No problem then sisi. Bye bye.
Thenjiwe  : bye.
She hanged up and the door had a knock.
Thenjiwe  : kuvulekile.
    ( its open.)
Nkululeko's wife came in with a tray of food . I got someone to talk to and who i can cook with.
Thenjiwe  : i wish i can say the same.
Zamo : dont worry. We will get to know each other.
Thenjiwe  : Am a child who should be calling him dad not husband. A thirty two year old man.!!
Zamo : thats how other marriges are..and even worse.
Thenjiwe  : he said this week is mine so what did he mean.?
She smiled.
Zamo : well you are lucky that you got a whole week. As a wife you will have make him feel like a man.
Thenjiwe  : is he not a man with full teeth.
Zamo : he will spend the night with you. Have sex and enjoy. Know each other .
Thenjiwe  : sex.?? Am a virgin.
Zamo : he is gentle trust me.
Is she not embarrassed to say that to a young lady about his husband.? If i were her i would've died with jealous.
