This is awkward but we've been sitting in the same spots across from each other in the library for weeks now, so I've spent a lot of time staring at you and I've kind of done some sketches of you, would you like to see them? AU

Touka yawned as she felt her eyelids becoming heavy while her focus was on her studies. Sliding her tongue across the front of her smooth teeth, a loud click escaped her causing the attention of others in the library to land on her with a mix of curiosity and concern of her sanity. There were many high school and college students studying for exams so it wasn't exactly uncommon for a man or woman to lose it and throw down their books, stomping out of the building.

She was not that way, but was already considering it. Literature was by far her worst subject while her other classes were pretty solid.

Nibbling on her lower lip as she flipped the page of a rather new book, she couldn't get her focus on the words. Hinami would've been done with the whole damn book at this point. Touka was only managing to crawl past the three quarters mark without losing her mind, but if she were to remain that way, she needed a break.

Sighing heavily as she marked the page with a plastic bunny bookmark that left rabbit ears sticking out of the edge of her book when closed. Stretching her arms and back, her eyes landed on a man who she guessed was in college. His dark hair shaded his eyes as he seemed to be engrossed in his book. Something she couldn't do. Feeling slightly jealous of the student's attention span towards the book, she kicked at the back of her heel to push her foot forward in her dark shoe. Picking up her bag, she hauled it up onto her shoulder.

Walking towards the door while rolling her shoulders, she must've forgot something as her bag felt light. Specifically a book light.

How could she be so stupid! Returning back towards the tablet, she noticed the dorky looking student gathering up her book, about to chase after her when he noticed the girl around the corner.

"Oh, uh, you forgot your book." He finally spoke shyly handing the hardcover towards the girl who took the material she despised with a small thanks and a nod of her head.

"C-cute bookmark." He spoke quietly, his voice strangely soothing.

"Me?"

"Uh, yeah."

"Thanks I guess." Giving the student a quick look over, she spoke as her desperate literature requires help. "Hey, do you work here?"

"No, uh, ma'am."

"Touka Kirishima. So your a college student?"

"Yeah. I'm Ken Kaneki, Kirishima-san."

"What do you major?"

"Classical literature."

A relieved sigh almost left her at the sound of the man majoring at what she couldn't do for the life of her. Maybe, just maybe she would ask him later. "Interesting. I guess I'll see you around?"

"Y-yeah. If you need me, I'm usually here..."

"Bye."

When Touka got to Anteiku, she felt her energy start to regain itself at the smell of coffee lingering in the air of the shop. Dragging her heavy feet up the stairs, she eventually reached her bed and dropped onto the mattress, limp. She had a shift tonight.

---

Touka returned to the library the next few days to study, too proud to ask the student for help even though he looked like the type that would love to attend to someone's aid. Something rare in both the human and ghoul world.
