I smirk to myself as I fall back onto my bed. Before I went to the hospital I had a few drinks with Winter, seeing Kenzi, Lou, Wyatt, Ty and Kayden the way they were would have just killed me. It's one of those scenes in the stupid T.V shows that usually brings us to tears because...you've grown so attached to the characters in the bed.
There was something weird about Ty, he was distant but I guess that's what you get from anyone in a tramatic event like the double car crash. I maybe just don't understand but yet I do understand. Car crashes happen to the most random of people and it did happen to me, I was never in one but I was involved with the people in car crashes. I understand the pain and worry that they feel because I feel it too.
Kayden looked pained, and maybe he was...in pain that is. I mean...he had a lot of surgery within the last week and with the broken leg and collar bone...it's difficult to move. "You're home?" A voice said and I propped myself up to be met with the eyes of my mother.
"Yeah, sorry you haven't seen much of me but with Lou and Kenzi and Ty and everyone in the hospital I've been...spending a lot of time at the hospital and-"
"It's fine Avery, I trust you," She said with a sad smile on her face. I tense and sat right up. "It's about Kayden," I felt as if everything was falling apart right there. Kayden. The world's kindest guy was going through hell right now.
"Wha-What happened?" I asked, my mom came over and sat next to me, taking my hand in hers. It had to have been serious, my parents never made any physical contact with me unless it was serious. Unless they felt the need to hug me and tease me, but Kayden right now was not a subject to tease me about.
"His...stomach started to fill with blood and he coded," She said and her voice cracked a little. "They got him back of course and got him into surgery but right now...just prepare yourself."
Prepare yourself. That's what they said when my grandmother passed a few years back, that's what they told Lou when they figured out her dog had bone cancer, that's what they told Kenzi's parents when they figured out she had a brain tumor and leukemia.
"Can I be alone?" I asked and she nodded. I looked around my cluttered room and closed my burning eyes. I opened them and my eyes landed on the heater grate, a heater that had a lose screw a few years ago and I never turned on again. I got up and walked over to it, and pulled it off. There safely standing was the bottle of vodka that Kayden and Kenzi got for me as a joke.
Now's a good as time as never right? I pulled it out and went to my bedroom door and locked it. I let the tears fall and opened the bottle, when I heard the small crack letting me know the bottle as opened, I pulled off the cap. I tilted the liquid to my lips and let it slip down my throat.

"Kenzi wake up," I could hear them but I could care less. Everything was peaceful here. I wanted to stay in this place, whatever it was. "Please, You can't do this to us. Wake up Avery, wake up for me. If not...wake up Wyatt," I pleaded, holding her cold, tan hand. At least she got a little bit of color back.
"Kayden's gone back into surgery and...I need you. We all need you. Wyatt needs you, you're his shoulder, his rock. Just...wake up," Whoever's on my best side pleads and I still lay perfectly still.
