It took us a couple days, but we finally made it into Virginia. On our way there, we had come across alot of bodies and there were still normal people hiding and living on the surface. Heading north showed signs of more military and local governments having stepped in. The air quality seemed to be also improving aswell. Signs of life not being so in danger and at risk here. Our meters we had acquired at least showed us that. It would be nice not to have to be on our toes all the time. We removed our masks and tucked them away. Hopefully the people here would be willing to talk to my group, or at least me and James. We had taken the leadership role in the group we had left. We kept walking forward to we saw a tent that seemed to be holding a gathering of people. We walked to it. Armed security were standing outside the tent. We were stopped and questioned. James spoke up first. "Hey there, were survivors from way down in Alabama and Georgia. Whats going on here?" I took up my place beside James.
One of the guards, he had on a name tag. Name was Richard. He spoke first. "This area is under military enforcement. All survivors are being questioned and detained here. We are studying them for any mutations or signs of the plague we are facing. We will have to detain all of you aswell. We also ask you surrender your gear and weaponry briefly inside. You will get it back after our doctors and scientists inside do their tests. We dont plan to hold anyone hostage. We are trying to build something back here." The other guard named Mark guided us inside and helped put away our gear and such. He eyed us with some suspicious gazes. We were carrying alot of things we picked up along the way. And we also had test samples and enhancement drugs with us.
