There he was, Richie Tozier was at Eddie Kaspbrak's house. Who knew he would be standing in the same position in a few months. It was answers Richie wanted and that's what Richie's going to get.
Richie dropped his bike, not being bothered to put up the stand even if it only takes two seconds. He started walking towards the door, he then realised that even if Eddie was home, it's not like his mother would let him in. So instead he walked to the side of the house where Eddie's bedroom window was located.
As Richie peaked into the window, what he saw scared him. No it wasn't his best friend, but it was red everywhere. The only conclusion was blood and Richie didn't know what to do. Should he try and open the window to see if his best friend is okay? Or should he run. Run as fast as he can. Richie being Richie, he tried to open the window, he struggled but eventually got it opened.
He climbed inside as quietly as possible, just incase Eddie's mother is waiting out there feasting like a beast. Or maybe she's in hibernation, hibernating and waiting for her son's arrival. That is assuming he wasn't home, which to Richie's surprise, he wasn't.
There was no way in hell Sonia let him out at this time, so the only conclusion is that he snuck out. But why would Eddie sneak out and go somewhere else? On his best friends birthday? Something was up.
Looking around Eddie's room, Richie finds some disturbing items. Why was a dead deer's head in Eddie's room? Eddie would never allow anything even close to that near him. Do you know the germs on that thing? Richie can already hear Eddie complaining about it and stating all the possible diseases you could get for touching such an object.
As he put down the deer head slowly he turned around go look at Eddie's bed, however there was no bed. Instead what looked like a ritual circle. Richie didn't know much about shit like that but what he did know scared him enough for him to get the fuck out of there.
However as Richie was about to leave, the window suddenly shut. Making a loud bang. That could only mean bad news. There was no where for Richie to hide so he just stayed put and figured he'd suffer the consequences.
Infront of him, walking through the door way, wasn't someone he knew. "Why are you in here!?" The stranger yelled. "Wait who are you?" Richie asked really confused. "Who am I? Why are you in my sisters home!?" Oh. Sister. "Wait where's Eddie and Sonia?" He asked needing to know more. "First tell me who you are." She said. "I'm Richie, Eddie's bestfriend. I thought something may have been wrong and by the looks of this room there is." Richie stated which made the lady relax a little. "Well I'm Stacey, follow me and I'll explain everything." She said with a straight face. Richie didn't feel safe but he didn't have many other choices, so he did what she said.
Next thing he knows he is sitting in the Kaspbrak's living room with a lady he just met and is still worried about his best friend.
"Tea?" Stacey asked with a calming smile on her face. "No thanks." Richie answered as she sat on the opposite side of the table with a mug in her hands. "Well, are you going to tell me?" He asked, eager to find out. "Right. What do you want to know?" Stacey asked. "Where the hell my best friend is!" She was shocked by the words that came out of the young boys mouth and made a disapproval face. "Sorry, I'm just worried." He stated which made her nod. "Well for starters, they aren't in Derry at the moment." That sentence made Richie go mad.
"What do you mean!?" He slightly shouted. "Let's see well from what I know, apparently Sonia and Eddie got into a fight. Something about a crush? I don't know much to be honest." Hearing that made Richie slightly hurt, knowing Eddie has a crush on someone made him want to drown. "Anyways, Sonia made a decision to send Eddie to some camp." She took a sip of her tea, "I still have no idea why she would do such a thing over a crush but, you never know with her." She took another sip of her tea and placed the mug onto the table.
Richie was in shambles, none of this made sense. A camp for having a crush? Was the girl really that bad?
"How long is he gone for?" Richie asked after a extended silence. "Months apparently. I'm not too sure when he will come back but I'm positive it won't be long." She just stared at him, with caring eyes. It was obvious she could tell how much he cared about her nephew.
"Alright, I should get going now." Richie stood up and tucked the chair back under the table, "I'm meant to be at my birthday party." Richie rolled his eyes. "Oh? Happy birthday then!" Stacey said with a charming smile on her face. "Thanks."
There was one thing Richie had to know before leaving, "Before I leave, what happened to Eddie's room?" He asked the lady. She gave him a confused face "What on Earth are you talking about?" She asked. Richie walked over to Eddie's room to prove what he meant, but was found shocked when Eddie's room looked normal. Some minor changes but Richie assumed it was because Eddie had packed a good amount of items.
"Wait what?" Richie whispered under his breath. "Is something wrong?" Stacey asked, now standing behind him. "No sorry, I must've been seeing things." Richie knew that was a lie. He knows what he saw, what he felt.
They said there goodbyes and Richie left, not looking back. He quickly made his way to the hideout, expecting no one to be there, he was surprised when only one person had gone home. Which was Bill, but ever since the incident with George, they've been very protective of Bill. It is a valid reason and you can't argue with his parents about it. In Richie's opinion, they were being very generous considering they let him stay out past nine.
For the rest of the night, the Losers ate candy, played games, danced, listened to music, all the classic party activities. However, without Eddie Richie felt lost. Like a piece of his puzzle was missing and he was going to search the whole house just to find it.
Richie was trying to enjoy himself and he hoped it looked like he was. But in his mind, all he could think about is what Eddie could be doing, or where he is. He also couldn't stop thinking about the fact Eddie had a crush. Who could it be? And why did he have to go to camp because of it? None of it made sense. Especially since a camp with germs and wilderness is the last place Sonia would send Eddie.
The mystery just got way more mysterious.
