Chapling Clearing

She couldn't believe herself. Why did she agree to this arrangement. Colin was mental if he thought some of his tips and tricks would help her find a husband. It was crazy talk. But alas, she waited in Chapling clearing. Pencil and parchment in hand. She never said she wasn't a fool just that she didn't want to be one. Oh well.

She waited for what seemed to be an eternity. There isn't much to do except look around at the nature. She wondered around the clearing about 5-6 times. Gathering beautiful leaves and flowers along her way. She had nothing better to do. She didn't know the time but she believed that Colin was running late. Maybe he wouldn't show up. Did that idea make her sad or happy. She is so confused. At least she didn't have to stay in the family room all day listening to her mama and Prudence talk about all the suitors Prudence must set her eyes on. She doesn't even believe her mama batted one eye when she told her she would be out this morning for a horse ride. Penelope hates horse riding. I guess it's not just the ton that doesn't see her.

She suddenly hears a ruffle of branches and a yelp coming from her opposite direction. She turns towards the sound and see's Colin walking towards her trying to relieve a wound on his face. He looked very handsome. With his Beautiful brown locks and his loose fitting blue shirt. She couldn't help but gawk. His cut running from his forehead down to his eyebrow. He looked beautiful.

She doesn't notice how close he's getting seeing as she was having all sorts of thoughts and feelings. She planned to confiscate the leaves and flowers out of her hands before he got here. Seeing as it was to late now she just stared trying to hide her hands behind her back.

"Hello Pen. I would say what a lovely morning it is but that would be wrong seeing as a branch decided to quarrel with me."

She laughs because what else would she do as a response. She doesn't know, her head is going blank. She can't think straight. She's pretty sure she's crushing the poor leaves and flowers she's collected. Suffocating them just as she is.

"Well, should we start?" Colin asks.

Clearing her throat, she softly answers, "yes".

"Right, before we start, what do you have behind your back. Please say it's some biscuits. I'm starving." Colin jokes.

"No, they're just flowers. I was growing quite bored. I believe I got here fairly early and have been here for awhile. So I was just walking around picking out parts of nature I thought were beautiful."

"Oh" he says a bit tightly.

"I will dispose of them" She says, readying herself to throw them into the bushes.

"No, don't. I would really like to see your collection." He says while holding out a hand.

"Oh, um okay." She says showing and giving him some of the beautiful nature.

"Eloise use to talk both you and I's ears off about facts of the flowers you would pluck. Remember that?" Colin asks.

Her voice suddenly going stiff, "Yes, I do. It became a habit of mine to pick flowers whenever we were out promenading"

"Whatever happened to those fun and simple days. I loved to tease Eloise with you." Colin recalls.

"I think we both know what happened to ruin those days." Penelope says, taking the flowers and leaves she has and throwing them to the ground.

Colin looks at her and sighs.

"We should start now." Penelope instructs.

"Yes yes, You might want to sit down for this." He says.
