The front door flew open, then slammed shut again. Cassia barreled through the house, grabbing anything necessary for her escape. She stuffed her things in her basket, taking care to pack enough books.

She got out a paper, scribbled a note, and left it in her sister's room:

"I don't have any time to explain, but you know I would never leave you without reason. This world hasn't been kind to me, and I'm off to find a new one. But you have been kind. Thank you. Don't look for me, ok? I love you."

She scrambled out of the house, fumbling to lock the door, then almost tripping down the front steps. She scaled over the colossal outer wall, headed towards the haunted woods, and submerged herself into the forest with more passion than she had ever done anything in her life.

She wasn't going to hurt her family any more.
