I was so frightened that a Wendigo was amongst us. Last time, the only nemesis we had to face was Frollo. Although, I suspect he was dealing with alien affairs.
"Well, we might as well find ourselves a malt shop to go to! It is 1958 after all! C'mon love, it's my treat. Put that skirt back on and we'll call it a date." The Doctor was amazingly excited and I just couldn't say no.
I slipped into the pouffy poodle skirt, and decided I looked very good. Before I could even exit the TARDIS, the Doctor surprised me with a change in his outfit too. He was wearing a plain black pair of beat up Converse, a pair of ripped up blue jeans and a white wife beater. He had a leather jacket slung over his shoulder.
"Wow, you clean up good." I said, smirking.
"Welll... I figured I'd play my part as well." He was making me swoon.
We walked back into town, hand in hand. We found a small diner near the entrance, and we sat in a booth near the back.
"Now, about this Wendigo, we probably should be looking out for it. It will make you feel really dreadful and almost like you may feel cannibalistic. But, fear not! I have a plan!" The Doctor explained, smiling.
"What's your plan, then?"
"I...don't know. But what I do know is that I can stare into your eyes all night...You are quite beautiful, Emily." The Doctor was making me blush.
I became slightly flustered, but thankfully the waitress came to take our order. I just ordered a cheeseburger and fries, as I figured it was the most obvious thing to order.
"I'll have the same as my lovely girl, but only bring one chocolate malt with two straws. We'll share, thanks." The Doctor finished, and I could tell by now my face was tomato red.
The waitress winked at us and walked off with our orders written down. I felt hot and cold at the same time. Was I falling for the Doctor and was he falling for me? I hardly know him. We only just met about three days ago...
Nevertheless, it feels like I've known him my whole life. I never really knew my father, and my mother was always on drugs and gone with strange men. I often had to fend for myself and take care of myself growing up.
At some point, my mother was diagnosed with lung cancer from her numerous years of chain smoking. I'm pretty sure she was smoking when I was in the womb.
I was alone after she died, and the only person who actually seemed to care was The Doctor so far.
All of a sudden, I told him everything. It was like word vomit. How I sold myself on the streets for a while because I was starving. Or how I started doing drugs at the tender age of thirteen because of my mother. Or how I didn't know my father at all.
"I'm sorry...how could have I known? I thought something was odd with the TARDIS that night when it let you in after I locked the door...You just strolled on in, a look of curiosity on your face. The TARDIS knew you were lonely." The Doctor was stroking my face.
"I'm lonely as well. All my companions have gone away...even my Rose." Sighing, The Doctor told me of each of his companions. The last, Donna, had ended up having to have her memory erased. She didn't remember the Doctor at all.
"I'm sorry. I guess we are just as lonely, you and I." We were almost kissing, when the waitress appeared and set down our food in front of us. On the old school jukebox, a rock n' roll song was playing.
The Doctor and I ate in silence, enjoying the music and the atmosphere. Every now and then, we would look up and give each other a sad smile. Finally, I was done and we could now share our malt.
Staring into the Doctors gorgeous eyes, I could see galaxies form and disappear in seconds, and all I could hear was the rock n' roll song playing in the background...
Whispering bells,
Whisper low,
Whispering bells,
Love you so,
Bring my baby
Oh my baby back to me.
(Baby back to me).
