Just like everyone else, Skylar has lost someone she loved to all the stars and back.
But one simple accident burned all those stars out until nothing but darkness and gut-wrenching guilt remained.
Since the accident was her fault, wasn't it?

✨️ Skylar ✨️
"Hey."
"Émeraude."
"Psst. Skylar."
"I know you can hear me. Skyyyy."
"Oh my absolute jalapeño peppers what do you want?!" I exclaimed irritated as I looked at the freak with the cute-I mean freaky hazelnut eyes who can't and won't stop bothering me.
"Ok ok, so what did the ocean say to the pirate?" He asked as he looked at me expectantly with an excited smile.
"What Hazelnut?" I sighed out as I turned to fully look at him.
"Nothing, it just waved." He said and just as he was going to let out the biggest laugh at his own joke he suddenly stopped with his mouth still open and snapped his head back at me.
"Wait, did you just give me a nickname?" He asked with shock as he tried to surpress a smile which wasn't quite successful.
"Don't take it to heart, it's only because your name is so long and so boring." I stated as I avoided his eyes by continuing to go over the script that I now know by heart.
"Are you excited about tonight? You haven't let go of that script since the beginning of this week." He asked humorously after a short silence which I could guess was because he was staring at me with that creepy smile stuck on his face which was caused by the nickname.
We are currently sitting in one of the many black leather seats in our school's overly huge auditorium and the script Anthony's talking about is for the Pirate themed school play that we will be performing tonight.
We've been rehearsing this thing every three days a week for the past two months and a half. And the only reason why Hazelnut is here is because he will be the Narrator of our lovely play.
I at first dreaded coming to the rehearsals thinking that it would only tire me out beyond exhaustion (I mean I was literally forced to do this) but I admit that it was a nice distraction from all the pressure of school and trying to get the best scores in every subject and yada yada.
Everyone was super chill and every Friday Mrs. Radina would get takeaways for everyone whether it be McDonalds or KFC. Hell she even got us some Nando's which is my absolute favourite.
(I'm on my knees for Nando's🧎♀️)
And another thing that I must also admit is that Caleb hasn't been such a big pain in the ass after the whole 'busting Levi out of jail' fiasco like he was before. Even though we pretend to get along way more than we actually do at school, he has started to acknowledge me in the hallway with a mere nod of his head but it's better than what it was a few months ago.
"Yeah it's been a while since I've performed in front of an audience. Just don't mess up your lines or I'll die from embarrassment for you." I teased already imagining it.
