the next day:

Kaine sat next to liara looking over the skyline of thessia. The asari had given him a massive apartment, despite his protests.

"so, what now?" Kaine asked as he watched the beautiful skyline of thessia. liara looked out with Kaine, "I believe the first face we go to is an Athane temple. there is a load of places to start."

Kaine nodded and climbed to his feet. "I... I never thought that many of the answers I sought were here, on thessia." liara said, looking at the broken space station in the sky. "to think that all this time, you were preparing for this, long before the oldest members in our species was even born."

liara looked at Kaine with worry. "but, even if we manage to unite the galaxy, how are you so sure this would work?" Kaine sighed, took a deep breath and walked to the window. rolling up a sleeve, he looked at his scars. "I... I'm not. Shepard is gone for the next 2 years, and I... I don't know if I can bring the galaxy together. I'm not Shepard, I don't bring people together as she can. I'm a weapon, even now."

Kaine rubbed his scarred arms, claws grew from his fingers as he spoke. "but, this time, this time, I'm weapon on peace, not genocide. I will be the shield of the galaxy-"

"and we will be the strength to keep that shield up." liara said, taking hold of Kaine's shoulder. Kaine smiled, nodding his thanks to liara before making his way out of the room.

Liara began to follow him as he exited the apartment. making his way to an elevator. "you know liara, I really don't like how your people see me."

liara nodded in understanding. After her time with Kaine, she no longer just saw him as her god. He was her friend. Someone who willingly put himself at risk to save her. "I know, you have enough on your shoulders. the duties of Tukru on top of that should be too much. but at least it helps in gaining support against the reapers." though she knew this wasn't exactly someone Kaine was proud of.

Kaine knew he was abusing the ways the asari saw him. Using his status to gain access to all sorts of resources. But, he also knew that the reapers would wipe out the galaxy if he didn't keep pushing. and all his efforts would be for nothing.

Eventually, he reached the elevator and clicked the bottom floor. Getting in, he and liara remained quiet. The two remained quiet before speaking. "where do you plan on going next after Thessia?"

Kaine pondered before a grim look filled his face. "omega, I got some things I need to do that are... less than pleasant."

liara looked in confusion, "what, why would you go somewhere like that." Kaine sighed, "we're gonna need more than just our galaxy, got to meet with the famed 'pirate queen'."

before liara answered, the elevator opened, allowing Kaine to exit. Immediately, he was bowed to by all the asari. Tevos walked up to him and bowed. "my lord, Where do you wish to go now?" she asked.

"there any of temples of me? I want to learn more about thessia." Kaine said. Tari lotara then walked up to him and gestured. "um, please follow me. We have a shrine just outside."

Kaine nodded, with Liara following just behind. As he walked, Asari all around gasped and bowed to him. Suddenly, an Asari child ran by, accidentally bumping into him. immediately, an older ran up and bowed profusely. "my lord, I am so sorry, She didn't mean to offend you."

The older asari bowed and kept apologizing but Kaine stopped her. kneeling, he was now eye level with the young asari. "what's your name little one?"
