Warnings: violence, drinking, mention of suicide, mention of self-harm

While the family sailed to Driftmark, queen Alicent held the young priestess close to her. Valázera had just finished performing her healing magic on the king, while Kharyz was out training with Prince Aemond. She was more of a swordswoman than a healer. She swung at him with such skill. Kharyz was never one to learn the art of being a priestess. She would learn later. Kharyz was more battle-honed. He could sense the red flag energy she radiated. Valázera had told him about her a few weeks ago about the constant torment she would receive. She told him her sister took her fiery rage out on her because of her parents' neglect. Meanwhile, the gang was fooling around on the ship. Especially Kharyz and Aemond. Ser Criston had to stop them once Kharyz blew fire in the king's direction, and Aemond threw his sword in that same direction. Valázera was off her break, so she was busy. This caused Valázera to chase Kharyz all around the ship. Criston dragged the young priestess away from the other as he guided her up to finish her duties. "Uhh, Prince Aemond? You're staring really hard at Valázera." "It's just Aemond." "Ok Just Aemond, what do you see in my little sister?" Aemond rolled his eyes at that. "She's sweet, she's intelligent, she's beautiful, and she cares deeply for the well-being of my family." Unlike you. He thought. "Really. She never cared for the well-being of Clan Kurydhall." "But Aegon did tell me one thing. He said she kicks the door or punches the wall until she bleeds." "Oh, you're not wrong, she does exactly that. Do you have any idea how fucking annoying it is? At night. I'm trying to get a good night's rest and there she is. Crying, and bleeding. She does it because of our dead parents. I personally hated my mother. She was a delusional lady who would switch sides between the two of us. My father was kind of a deadbeat." "Kharyz I understand where you're coming from, but you really should have helped her." "She could help herself." Aemond glared at her. "Besides, my whole family hated her except my mother, my uncle even gave her the ancestral family axe! Even though she's a fucking b-" "Kharyz, if you so much as FINISH that sentence, I'll have your tongue!" "You can try but I'm sure I would snap your neck before you even got started." She reminded himself of Aegon, but much stronger. Speaking of Aegon, once they docked, Prince Aegon immediately busted his ASS over to get a glass of wine. "Here we go again." Kharyz said facepalming. "Now it's MY turn!" Kharyz's twin buns bounced in the air. The two high functioning alcoholics started dancing up on tables and play-fighting until Daemon grabbed Kharyz. Vaemond spoke, "We are here to bring Lady Laena Velaryon home to the sea." They lowered the stone coffin into the water. Valázera watched it sink to the bottom. Her black dress flowed in the wind. Daemon held Kharyz against his chest, and both of them laughed at Vaemond's stupid speech. However, Daemon laughed because he saw it as a slight against Rhaenyra's children, but Kharyz laughed because she agreed with Vaemond, and that he was absolutely right. Kharyz Kurydhall HATED her baby sister. They each got awkward stares. Rhaenyra blushed at the sight. She thought of the family continuing to grow. She knew Daemon and Kharyz had some sort of special bond because he was the one who encountered her first, and trained her for days on end. It showed Rhaenyra how far Daemon had come. He used to be a degenerate, now he's a loving father, and mentor to this red priestess whose family was built on lies.

Nightfall came and all the children were lined up and sent to bed. Except for Aegon who was out getting absolutely SHITFACED with his aunt Vanaeda and Kharyz Kurydhall. Valàzera was watching from a distance. She recognized Aemond's voice as he approached behind her. "Those three are disgusting!" "They're not doing anything to hurt us at the moment." Valázera said and Aemond continued. "Look at Vanaeda, that cunt is a mother! She's ruining my brother and your sister!" Vanaeda's white hair was a mess, and her brown skin was stained with food, and her plump lips were dripping with drool and liquor. "Kharyz was always like that, and from my understanding, Aegon was too." "Yeah, true. My brother's always been a twat. Valázera, I have something to show you." Aemond took her hand and guided her to the Driftmark dragonpit. There, slept a large green dragon that looked like it had seen many years of battle. The two of them gazed at each other and urged closer. Valázera was shielding Aemond in case the dragon tried anything stupid. The dragon got pissed and woke up "Dohaerās, Vhagar! Lykirī!" Aemond shouted. Vhagar. What a pretty name. Valàzera knew the name sounded familiar. Her uncle had made trade deals with two green haired twins named Vhagar and Vhagrax. Her uncle would come back to the red city fuming over the twins' stupidity. Valázera at the time would laugh at her uncle's angry comments. One being: "The only thing bigger than Vhagar Namoerys' brain is her chest." The thoughts of the idiotic twins turned into thoughts of her butchered uncle, causing tears to fill her eyes. But this amazing beast before her made her snap out of her painful memories. Vhagar was about to breathe fire, but Aemond got in front of Valázera and shouted again, "Dohaerās, Vhagar! Lykirī!" Aemond picked up Valázera and helped her onto the large dragon. Vhagar immediately took off and ripped her way through the night sky. Valázera hugged Aemond and nestled her head in his neck. Aemond was about to fall off. He held on for dear life. He was afraid Valázera would fall. She gripped onto his shoes as tight as she could. He thought of an idea. "Valázera! Arlinnon!" Valàzera, change. She understood what he meant because while they were talking about Valàzera's ability to shift, he taught her the word. "I CAN'T! I DON'T WANT TO HURT YOU!!" Her hands slipped and she started to plummet towards the ground. He recalled the time when she burned him and understood why she wouldn't take that risk in shifting again. "Vhagar, DIVE!" The dragon hurled herself towards the falling girl. Valàzera closed her eyes waiting for death to take her, but she wasn't met with the hard ground. She was floating. Aemond was grabbing her limp hand. "Grab the rope!" She did and pulled herself back up. She went to sit behind him but he pulled her to the front and wrapped his arms around her, and pressed a kiss to the side of her head. She interlocked her fingers with his and leaned back into the crook of his neck. When they hopped off Vhagar, Aemond felt his heart beating out of his chest. He put his arm around Valázera's shoulder. "You are never riding in the back again." "Aemond, I'm perfectly capable of handl-" "no!" Valàzera was taken aback. "You nearly died up there. I- I can't lose you!" Aemond brought her in for a warm embrace and rested his head in the crook of her neck. The two of them stood still for quite a while. The sound of the waves crashing made it all the more serene. "Aemond?" "Yes?" "Do you think we should head back? I'm sure you don't want your cousins and nephews finding out about this." "I'm sure they won't find out but when they do-" "you're going to start something that shouldn't be started." "Don't worry about it, flame. I'm sure we will be just fine for now."
