(Longest chapter I have ever written and ever will write. Starts with Angst then ends in fluff.)

James was skipping potions with his friends, they went to potions the day before -no need to go twice a week.

They were messing around in the corridor outside defence against the dark arts, bit risky, but they didn't care. They were high as fuck.

"Oi," Sirius said abruptly. "Where's that parchment we made last week, the map."
Taking a second to remember, James spoke up.

"The astronomy tower, we left it there!" He said as if he were the smartest person in the world.

"I'll go get it." Remus said, volunteering himself as he was the least high out of the four.

"No, no I'll get it." James said proudly. And with that he was on his way to the astronomy tower.

Walking through the corridors, he arrived at the first spiral staircase. He made his way up and up until he reached a platform. Looking around at the floor he had reached, he saw that it wasn't the right one.

"No.. not that one. Let's go!" He said to absolutely no one.

He stepped up the marble bricks again. Coming to what he knew as the astronomy tower.

He climbed the stairs and arrived at the very top. He couldn't find the map but he did see a note. He ignored it.

"𝘐𝘵'𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘺 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘢 𝘴𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘺 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘦." He thought. Lovers at Hogwarts always went up there for cheesy dates, or to look up at the stars together. He looked up to see a boy, stood on the other side of the railing.

He wasn't that high to not know what was happening. "Hey, wait." He said.

The boy turned his head. It was Regulus.

Seeing his face, James was instantly worried. His heart pounding with fear.

"Don't do it." He said, he tried to sound casual but the words came out in a strained voice.

"Why shouldn't I?" Regulus replied. "This god-awful world will be the same without me, nobody cares, you don't care. I bet if you asked Sirius, he would ask who you were talking about." Regulus said, avoiding eye contact with the beautiful boy standing just one metre away.

It was more of a test, he was testing James to see if he would leap in and save him.

James, however, felt angry. He didn't know what he was angry about. It was probably the comment about Sirius that had triggered him.

"Are you fucking deranged?" He said, hatred intwined in every word. He was about to speak again but...

"No James, you don't get it, do you?"
"Don't get what." James was curious, but he also wanted to just push him off the tower himself. Maybe save Regulus the effort.

"This world is fucking deranged. EVERYBODY IN OUR SHITTY WORLD IS DERANGED!"
"WHAT ABOUT REMUS, PETER AND SIRIUS, your- your brother." James had calmed down a bit, he was still fuming though.

"He doesn't act like my brother."
"He's just scared. Like im sure you are right now. Come on. Come here." James walked forwards to the railing. He tried his best not to look as though he wanted to stab the boy in front of him in the throat and tear out his heart. That's if he even had a heart.

James took hold of Regulus waist. "Put your arms around my neck." He said softly. He didn't know what came over him. One minute he was screaming at Regulus wanting to rip him to shreds, the other minute thoughts are rushing through his head telling him to hold him and never let go.
