Chapter Fifteen- Carol

Carol's P.O.V.

I quickly sat up when I heard the glass break then I heard a heart stopping thud like the sound of concrete and flesh. I looked over at Tony he wasn’t gold anymore I looked up at his face he was pale and the brown was starting to come back in his eyes and they were full of tears he was looking down at the ground through the giant hole in the window. I carefully got up but stumbled a bit causing Tony to look over he had a broken look in his eyes he opened his mouth like he was trying to speak and he barely choked out the words, “I- I didn’t know.” I cautiously walked over to see what he was staring at outside when I did though I nearly fell. It was Steve lying in a pool of blood on the concrete below swarmed by paramedics. I didn’t wait for Tony I ran down the steps as fast as I ran out of the building and stopped dead in my tracks. Steve was in the ambulance but the doors were open and they were giving him CPR the medics hands were completely covered in blood on the pavement there was a giant pool of blood from where he must have hit the ground. I looked over and saw Maria, Thor, Pepper, and surprisingly Loki all standing behind the police line they were all pale and it looked like Pepper had been crying a bit Maria had her arm around her comfortingly Thor was standing by them for moral support probably and Loki was standing away from the group leaning up against the side of one of the buildings looking at the ground and playing with some kind of necklace he was wearing around his neck. “Ma’am I’m going to have to ask you to move outside of the crime scene.” I looked over at the cop who had said it and nodded. I walked under the tape and over to the rest of the team. “What in the nine realms happened while I wasn’t here?” Thor asked still staring at the scene. “Really long story Thor and I don’t know half of it.” I couldn’t believe half of what I saw I mean I already knew Tony was possessed by Thanos. “I leave with my bro- Loki for twenty minutes and Steve almost dies.” He said like he didn’t comprehend everything. “Where did you guys go anyway?” I asked a bit suspicious. I know don’t doubt your teammates but in this situation with everything going on that was a bit hard for me to do right now. “I went to go find something out and Thor tagged along.” Loki said causing me to look up he walked over and slipped the necklace under his shirt and I got a small look at it and it looked like an engagement ring of some kind. “Find out anything helpful?” Maria asked them apparently this is the first time they had mentioned this little tidbit. “It seemed a bit strange that Thanos would be getting his hands dirty this early in his plan but it is one of his allies inside of Starks mind.” He said seriously. “Well… who the hell is it.” Maria asked almost as if she was interrogating someone. “A demon named Prometheus who specializes in possessing people.” He almost said it like he was leaving something out. “Like how you could use the scepter and possess people?” Maria asked. “Yeah he’s the one who showed me that.” He said it a bit…. Ashamed. I heard the sound of an engine start and looked back at the scene the police and ambulance were pulling off the lights were blaring on the ambulance as it speed off I couldn’t help but let a tear fall down my face this is the first time I have ever admitted this but…. I’m in love with Steve Rogers.
