Part Two

The rest of the day is pretty cruisey. Around two o'clock we pack up the market stall, majority of the stock is depleted which means we've got our work cut out for us to bring the inventory back up for Friday's market.

I help unload the car at home and nana ventures off to start working on some more jewellery. I'm not really in the mood to make some jewellery, I want to draw. I venture off into my bedroom, put my headphones on and let the drawings just pour out of me.

I repeat the same drawing a couple of times, drawing the blonde mermaid from different perspectives. I'm even bold enough to draw my own legs at the top of the page, the picture a visual of what happened to me in my dreams. For some reason seeing the drawing helps me to distinguish that it was just a dream. It has happened and it will never happen.

My afternoon goes by uninterrupted until its dinner time. I sit around the table listening to my family talking about their days, discussing the bonfire coming up this weekend. It appears Emily was dead serious about taking care of everything herself. She's already informed the family of everything.

"We're heading out earlier in the morning now, Ily." Jack says as we wash the dishes together.

I grumble about the silly nickname only my brothers call me by. I don't like the nickname, they know this, but I allow only them to call me by it. Emily tried once and she never did again. Mum and dad aren't even allowed to use the nickname. They opt for more pet names like love, dear, darling, or baby girl. I am completely fine with that.

"What time now?" I ask. My brothers go out super early in the mornings every so often to go fishing. Sometimes I tag along to go diving for shells. They usually drop me off at Moon Wreck Island for a couple hours or I come with them, depends on where they end up fishing.

"Four. Get it over and done with then we can hang out with you guys and swim."

I grumble over the absurd hour to be out of bed but its not that big of a deal. I just need to make sure I actually go to bed at a better time tonight. Like say very shortly considering its almost eight pm now.

"What are your plans, anyway? Moon Wreck Island?" he asks, handing me the next dish to dry.

I nod. "I think so. I haven't been diving there for a little while, it might be nice to spend some time there."

"Is nan joining you?"

I shrug. "Don't know, maybe. I'll find and let you before I go to bed."

We finish the dishes talking about how things are going with his girlfriend and the hotel. My brother is very passionate about his newfound responsibility in taking care of the hotel. It suits him too; he gets the magnificent glow about him when he really gets to talking about the hotel and the future plans, he has for it.

I'm very proud of my brother and the things he has done for the family and himself.

I shower, pulling on my pyjamas before I head out to the back deck to find nana. It's rum o'clock for her before she heads off to bed. No doubt she's finishing off her latest book or gossiping on the phone with her friends.

I'm pleased to find her reading her book when I step out onto the deck. And her drink is almost finished so I've caught her at a good time for a quick chat about tomorrows plans. I curl up next to her on the loveseat, resting my head on her shoulder as I look out at the beautiful moon lighting up the ocean. Full moons always look so spectacular on the water.

It gives off this silvery beautiful glow that I've only ever seen the ocean have.

"You okay, baby?" she asks, wrapping an arm around me.
