By afternoon sunset, they made their way into the gleaming carnival thrumming with bright lights and laughter. They rid the stroller at the car and strapped the toddler into a carrier that Nat insisted she had to hold the baby. She threw on a hoodie and a bomber jacket before tucking the stray red curls into the hoodie that fell onto her red Phillies cap. The woman was simply gorgeous with anything on, Theo thought as she held onto the woman's hand securely.
Once inside, they purchased scripts for the games and rides before settling into a helicopter ride with Rory. Nat held onto him tightly as he stood excitedly bouncing as the ride began. His addicting giggles stemmed from the beautiful red head who was utterly fond of him. Each ride, they went on was more exciting than the next. Everything the little guy wanted he received in tenfolds.
After the rides, they made their way towards the gaming booth while holding onto the toddlers hands. He was eager to walk and yet so demanding to be carried by Talia who had spoiled him rotten. Little by little he had gained more steps to walking on his own instead of just standing still. She watched as the woman would squeal in excitement after Rory would toss the ball into the basket. She didn't mind holding all their winnings to see the joy on both of their faces.
It became a realization for her as Theo began to want things that were out of her reach for reasons of her past. Pain had eroded her cold heart for many years but she felt it slowly melting away. Those emerald eyes only reflected passionate joy that she witnessed between other people and not onto her. Randomly she would smile in amazement of how truly blessed she felt being in Talia's presence. The woman was something out of this world and her caring heart was a rarity in today's society. Leave it to the fiery woman to melt a cold hearted woman like herself. Regrets of her past began to intervene with her emotions as she stored them far into her mind. Talia was too good for that part of her especially knowing the operations going behind the scenes of Arcane Shipping Industries. Her black heart couldn't fathom the hurt it'll be if the woman truly knew who she was. She would keep that from her for Talia's safety, she decided. She was jarred out of reverie as a plop against her leg displayed four front teeth and a large inflatable baseball bat.
Theo guffaw out loud at the lovely boy, "oh no mischief maker," she giggles ruffling his soft red hair that poke through his baseball cap.
Rory's toothy grin beams as he fumbled with the bat over and over again. The bat fell out of his grip and as Theo was going to fetch it, Rory steadies himself taking a step on his own.
Talia crouched down beside the boy, "get it handsome," she cheers as Rory took another step. He wobbled to and fro as both Talia and Theo held an arm out to catch him. But the little man kept his balance and those little feet began to excitedly rush forward towards his toy in which he capture victoriously. Talia swept him off his feet, "that's my boy," she repeats happily as she kissed him endlessly.
Theo slings an arm around Natalia's waist pulling the two close to her as they went about towards the circus show. They found their seats on the bleachers with Nat and Rory situated between Theo's legs. Before the show started, Theo slips away for refreshments. She stood in line at the delicious carnival stand picking the lot of sweet treats for the boy and her sweet tooth. She grabbed her box of filled carnival favorites and made her way back to the circus tent.
"Belladonna," a gruff voice calls out before a dark presence sidles next to her. His awful choice of cologne made her wince as she noticed the eye patch.
Theo glances at the sleek man dressed to the nines with a heavy black coat and leather gloves, "pardon me?" she replies dramatically confused to throw the man off. A woman with raven hair and a piercing stare steps before her.
"We need to talk," the man continues as she catches the glimmering S.H.I.E.L.D. Badge situated on the woman's waist.
Theodora masks her face with years of training, plastering a confusion, "apologies sir," she gasps feigning a fearful glance before rushing the woman.
"Suit yourself, I'll find you one way or another," the man calls out behind her as she slips through the entrance of the tent.
Her eyes were captured by the beautiful woman playing with a cheerful baby as the pre entertainment started. She sidles beside Natalia kissing her as they are their hotdogs. Rory stood between them walking back and forth while they fed him every carnival sweets. He was excited for the Lions that waltz before him eagerly reaching for them. Both of them held Rory as the trainer let them pet the King of the jungle. Elephants were escorted through the crowds along with various exotic animals that were within Rory's grasps. The little spitfire had a mischievous way about him that loved animals just as Amara did.
Once the show was done, they languished walking around the rest of the carnival as Rory's endless energy seemed to dwindle. His milk bottle was full as he began to suckle contently. Nat kept him securely coddled as always before they slipped out of the carnival and towards the car.
Theodora was already intense by the unknown S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents as she cautiously checked the car. Talia was placing the sleepy boy into his car seat as she surveyed anything amiss with her Range Rover. She stiffens at the sight of the business card on her windshield wiper before she crushed it in her hands and flung it in the nearby trash. She started the car as Nat sidles next to Rory admiring him before she drove off. She glances in the rear view mirror for any oddities, "how about a little drive?" she asks as Nat was dozing off.
Nat nods, "if you don't mind me resting for a while," she responds.
Theo smiles, "rest sweets," she says warmly before Natalia was leaning securely holding the boy's cheek. Her eyes closed and Theo was off mapping a course just in case they were being followed.
