Months later....
S.H.I.E.L.D. HQThe raven haired Agent conceals the confidential folder against her ribs and arm as her eyes met the deadly black widow that awaited the elevator. To avoid the awkwardness, she approaches slowly.
"Good morning Maria," Nat greets beaming a smile.
"Good morning Nat. Someone's having a beautiful morning," Maria remarks with a smile.
The black widow's eyes scrunch happily as a blush grazes her cheeks, "well," she muses, "we have to find reasons to push us through hard days," she adds.
Maria raises a brow, "care to elaborate," she jokes.
Nat grins looking distantly, "a girl doesn't kiss and tell," she cocks back remembering one of many of Theo's sly remarks.
Agent Hill guffaws, "you've been cheery these past months. I like it," she compliments.
The black widow smirks but stays silent her thoughts drifting to the woman who had captured her heart unknowingly. The elevator door opens and they step inside. She noticed the file wedged in Maria's side, "new case?"
Maria opens her mouth glancing at the file and nods, "just one of those many minor requests from Fury," she chuckles trying to mask the true information.
Nat shrugs nonchalantly, "it becomes a norm after a while," she says before the elevator opens. She smiles softly, "have a wonderful day," she teases over her shoulder.
Maria grins warmly before she takes the next floor. Her face sternly placed with a look of contemplation as she enters Fury's office.
The man holds out his hand for the file in which she slowly places in his grasp. His eye flickers to hers as a glare appears on his face, "anything wrong Agent?" he questions.
Agent Hill takes a deep breath, "she's happy," she mouths.
Director Fury tilts his head relax back into his chair as the file drops on his desk, "Agent I've one question for you. Will her happiness stop world domination?"
Maria narrows her eyes, "you know it doesn't but..."
"But nothing," the Director interjects, "Nat is like a daughter to me. A bit much than she likes to acknowledge but nonetheless we need Belladonna and this, is the only way. This is our last resort," he explains.
Agent Hill sighs heavily before she nods, "when are you planning on making a move? She's taking leave in two months," she informs.
Fury shrugs subtly, "let her enjoy her vacation," he waves before opening the file. He hiss at the occurring HYDRA related events before he shuts it disgustedly.
Ten months later...
Busied by the demands of custom weaponry, Belladonna had been working through a power nap or two for a whole month. Honestly, she was happy for the distraction since she had an ultimatum with Talia that led to the rebuilding of her shattered heart.
For months, Talia had been working endlessly, missing their lunch dates. The Goddess felt like she was being prioritized as last place, the back burner for everything. Of the late, she was left waiting for hours at the restaurant until Nat would text her that she couldn't make it. Understanding to a certain degree until she had enough. Weekends were the worse when she had to adjust back to not expecting her girlfriend to flake out. She canceled many intimate moments she was planning only to hide herself in the mountains to refresh her thoughts and heart.
Flashback...
The day Talia had her waiting for two hours at their favorite restaurant, Agent Nick Fury had the audacity to make an appearance, pressing Theo about the same old thing. She was quite dismissive until he had mentioned numerous occasions he had found her alone. "She's not coming," he said with a smirk. Theo couldn't help her temper, striding off leaving the man smiling victoriously. That night after juggling with keeping Arcane in a straight line and fulfilling ridiculous orders, she glanced at her phone with no missed calls, no text, nothing. Her temper flared almost causing a fire in her office. Disgusted with herself for losing her temper over some woman who wouldn't give her the time of day, she went to the Amorist to relieve her stress.
