ROB’S POV
Am being discharged today and I'm so happy that I'm leaving this place. Hospitals have never been a nice place to be with all the sirens the noises from rolling beds in the corridors the smell of medicine, it's just too much for me.
Dad, Barry and Jim are here. Dad and Barry have not said a word to me but I've been talking alot with Jim. They flatly refused to let Ella and Paulina escort me home.
“The last time she was with you she almost got killed.” those were Barry's words.I just changed into my casual clothes and Jim left to sign us out. “so when are you going back to school?” I ask Paulina who is typing away in her phone when the silence stretches.
“This evening.” she answers briefly. “why is Ella not here yet?”
“She must be help up somewhere. We'll have to leave.” I say getting off the bed and whincing in pain when a sharp pain slices through my wounded leg.
“hey careful, Jesus Robin.” she snaps rushing to help me get on my feet.
Dad walks in followed by Jim, “The car is ready.” is all he says and we make our way out.
Jim is the type of guy that has zero patience, “this is going to take forever.” he says placing his hand behind my knees and the other one on my waist and he carries me bridal style to dad's silver Bugatti parked proudly at the entrance of the hospital.
Everybody is moving aside intimidated by my dad and brothers and I want to roll my eyes, why would someone choose this kind of life, I for one will never get used to all this attention.
Did they really need to make it this obvious that they have money and no body can tell them anything?
Barry gets into his black Tesla and he drives off followed by us.
We finally arrive home after riding in silence all the way from the hospital, Paulina remained saying she needs to get ready but she'll pass by on her way to the airport. I really miss her alot lately ever since her mom moved her away because she doesn't want her daughter staying around dangerous people.
Well, she's a caring mother I'd do the same for my kid. As much as am happy for her that she is not involved in this mess like Ella and I, I really miss the times we used to spend together.
Nanny is so happy to see me and she offers to make me some coffee which I gladly accept for two reasons.
One, I like her coffee it's the one thing that I miss alot when am not home. And two, because dad would kill me if I asked for whiskey instead, he feels like am still too young to be drinking alcohol not that he doesn't know that I drink, but he just doesn't want me to drink in his presence, he says till I turn twenty-four which is two years from now.
I'm seated on the couch and am scrolling through Instagram, dad is seated opposite me and I don't dare raise my eyes, am sure he doesn't know where to start so I don't say a word. Jim left to workout, Barry went to freshen up and that leaves me with dad.
I keeps sipping my coffee that nanny made just the way I like it.
“What do you really need me to do?” He starts and I raise my eyes only to come eye to eye with his brown ones, I guess that is were I got my brown eyes.
“what?”
“why couldn't you just be obedient and stay grounded, did you really have to sneak?”
“Am sorry dad.” is all I say when I see the worry in his eyes. I obviously can't tell him that I snack to go and investigate on his rival or whatever we were doing.
“i almost went insane when your mother died, do you really think all be able to stand loosing you too?” he says leaning in front from his seating position. “you must think I hate you for the machandise for you to act so rebellious, I did not ground you because I hate you princess, I did that to protect you from my enemies.”
“you could have just told me to stay in or be careful when I go out.” I place the coffee mug on the table. “am not a kid dad and you can not ground me to protect me my whole life.”
“I know, which brings me to this.” he says seating back. “ you'll go with lesly to get trained so that you'll be able to defend yourself but untill then, you'll focus on healing first, no mischievous act.”
That means staying here and going nowhere am going to get bored to death.
“but dad..”
“you can't even move around by yourself let alone get things done with your broken arm, can you just stop the stubbornness and focus on healing?” he says in a low desperate voice and when dad uses that sound on me I know that he is really more worried about me than disappointed.
“okay, I will, just because it'll bring peace of mind to you.” I say shifting to a comfortable position. “and am sorry dad really, for everything.” I apologise sincerely and I watch as he stands and walks to where am seated smiling.
“its okay, everybody makes mistakes.” he says drapping his hand around my shoulder and pulls me in for a side hug which I gladly sink into. “ you're my princess, I can never be so hungry at my princess for so long.”
“wow what a great father daughter reunion.” Barry appears from the stairs in grey sweatpants and sweatshirt, his sleekblack hair is perfectly combed and his beards looks so healthy. The one thing about him is that he loves his facial appearence more than anything.
We silently watch as he pours himself whiskey in a glass and he drops a few ice in and that really makes me want to have some, “daddy?”
“yeah.”
“can I have a few? please. Just one glass only.” I try looking at him with puppy eyes.
“No, you can not.” he says looking at me “besides, you're under medication, that is a big fat not.”
“Drinks are for grown ups only, and people who don't put themselves in danger every fucking chance they get.” That is Barry and I roll my eyes for the umpteenth time.
“Barry, don't talk to your sister that way.” that's dad.
“Aren’t you supposed to be dealing with some grown up mafia business, perfect brother?” I start with the sarcasm.
“ No, do you know why?” he asks flopping on the couch where dad just vacated. “Because I cancelled my appointments to go get someone spoiled in the hospital.”
“I didn't ask you to.” my phone chimes and I glance at it.
He scoffs,“dad say something, you can't just let her speak to me like that.”
“leave her alone she's been through alot.” dad says and Barry earns himself a wide smirk from me.
I tap the message to open it and, It's a message from an anonymous number.
I have my eyes on you.Looks like am in more trouble than I thought.
I will never get used to this threats.
