Giyu's pov
'Everything is not as black and white as that. But you will feel yourself get better, however small that might be.' Y/n says, the silver moonlight reflected in her e/c eyes as if to show hope. I look into her eyes, the moonlight shifting as she looks away.
'You might not feel like you are making any progress, but trust me, you are already one step closer than you were before.' she says, watching the night cloud ride the wind past the bright moon.
Y/n's pov
'I hope so.' Giyu says, him still looking down onto the ground except you can see the corners of his lips pulling upwards to the slightest degree.
'See? You're expressing your feelings more. That is the most important step to knowing how to balance the emotions.' You say loudly, the sake you drank a few minutes ago taking its effect. Before you can stop yourself, you reach out, holding up the fading smile on his face with your fingers.
'Smile. It's healthy.' You say firmly, his eyes turning round once again as he looks down at you, surprise coating them.
'Waakaaataa..Y/nn' He says, his speech slurred from you holding up the corners of his lips with your hands. You laugh at his muffled words mismatching with his round eyes, pulling your hands back.
'Gomen. It's so rare when you smile so I just had to look at it for longer.' You say, him slowly touching his cheeks where your hands were.
'Y/n-chan! Tomioka-san! What are you both doing here out in the cold?' You look to your side, finding your sister holding the lamp as she makes her way up to you both.
'Just enjoying the snowfall and the quiet for a while, onee-san.' You tell her as she takes a seat next to you.
'Onee-san! Can you tell us your story?' You suddenly ask, perhaps it was the sake still not wearing off that you remember your sister always read her writing to you years back, which never failed to calm your mind.
'My stories?' She says, looking somewhat surprised that you asked.
'Un. It always helps me find peace. Maybe Giyu can find some calmness in your writing too.' You say, Giyu's round eyes staring at you.
'Mochiron! I'm glad that my pieces can help people.' Your sister says, moving backwards as she sees you shift towards the centre of the pavilion, laying down on the cold floor just like you used to as a child. You motion at Giyu to do the same, him looking confused but slowly moving to lay down a little further away from you. Your sister sits behind your heads, her gently placing a hand on your shoulder.
'There was a girl who had a heart like the sun and a boy with a heart like the moon.
Both had a part of themselves missing, but they were too oblivious to know what it was that they were missing.
Because when the sun was out, the moon was down.
And when the moon was out, the sun was down.
What they did not know was that even though they could not see each other at the same time, they were still up in the same sky.
One day, when the girl was walking home in the middle of a snowstorm of the winter, she looked back on her way, finding the boy with a heart like the moon.
And that second, they realised that each other was what they were missing all their life.
And then the second their eyes met, the snowstorm stopped, the sakura tree blooming with cherry blossoms.
They...'
You feel yourself drift into a deep sleep, your consciousness riding the soft melody of your sister's voice. Just as you close your eyes, you see Giyu's usual blue orbs buried in thought, although you were too deep into the warmth of your sister's touch that you do not ask him about it.
Giyu's pov
I open my eyes, the moonlight still falling onto my face as I lift myself up into a sitting position. The blanket falls off of me and I look to my side to see Y/n still asleep in the blanket that I believe Sayuri-san left to keep us from the cold.
'Y/n.' I say quietly, her showing no acknowledgement from her deep slumber. 'Y/n?' I call her again, hesitantly shaking her by her back. She only turns her head away from me, still fast asleep.
'We'll catch a cold if we stay out here longer.' I tell her, seeing the lights in the Spirit estate had all gone out from the night setting in as everyone went to sleep. I give her back another shake, it only rising and falling steadily. I stare at her back for a few seconds, her expression over her side peaceful as ever.
'Nande...' I say more to myself, sighing as I turn her over onto her back, pulling her up into my arms to walk down the pavilion towards the living quarters.
I stop to look at the bright unchanging moon once again as I stand by the door, Y/n still asleep despite her feet dangling in the air over my arm. I walk through the door, making my way swiftly towards her room to place her down to avoid her waking up anytime soon to find me holding her sleeping self. She suddenly shifts in my arms that I stop abruptly on my spot almost ready to drop her the second she opens her eyes.
'Don't do that, Y/n' I whisper, dragging the door open to the side with my foot as I reach her room. Kneeling down, I try to place her on the bedding, only to feel something tug on my yukata.
'Y/n, please.' I say it more to myself, seeing her hand squeeze the front of my yukata, rolling right back into my arms as I try to pry her off of me. I gently place her back onto her bedding, picking off her fingers from my front and quickly putting her blanket in its place. Her hands curl around the corner of the blanket, holding it tightly before burying her face in the pillow. Pulling the blanket higher up on her neck, I stand up, turning to leave before she wakes up.
Author's note: I may be using more Korean soundtracks than Japanese but that is because I'm Korean (lol tmi)! The first song from the 10h playlist my grandma sometimes sings it :) very calming, I know.
BTW I realised "kudasai" can't be used on its own like "please" in English or "jebal" in Korean 😂 And i did that in my previous chapters - if you know how to say "please" on its own in Japanese, plz do tell me bc I'm trying to learn like conversational (?) Japanese.
