Tanjiro's pov

I watch the pillars and the other slayers shift in their beds, some of them having woken up from their coma, but still some waiting to regain their consciousness.

'Obanai-san. You should take a break. We don't want any more people falling ill from overworking.' I tell him as I walk over to him sitting by Kanroji-san's bed, her still sleeping peacefully. His head turns towards the sound of my voice as I place a cup of water onto his palm, him touching the edges carefully to hold it properly without spilling, his other hand still resting over Kanroji-san's.

'I'm fine.' He says, turning back to watch her sleeping peacefully as the spirit herbs soak into her wounds.

'Well. Please take care of yourself too, Obanai-san. You can tell us if you need anything.' I say as I point to the others, Zenitsu placing a flower crown on Nezuko's head in the garden.

'Arigato, Kamado.' He says, his eyebrows relaxing through the scars on his face.

'Douitashimashite, Obanai-san.' I say, taking the tray  from the table next to the bed to take it back to the kitchen.

Giyu's pov

I undo the bandage from Y/n's arm, her physical body healing faster than ever with the spirit herbs, although she's been in bed without making a single movement for days. I wipe the closing wound with clean wet cloth, cleaning the remaining blood before placing a fresh spirit herb over it, the juice from the leaves seeping into the wound. Putting the bandage back over it, I feel my mind wander on its own, the memories I never paid any attention to before resurfacing.

'Tomioka! It's getting late! We should get dinner from the food stands!' I tried to escape the annoying hinoe girl who never shuts her mouth the moment we decapitated the demon, only to be stopped with her mischievous eyes.

'I'm not hungry.' I say, the smaller girl only laughing loudly as she chaotically surrounds me, stopping me from walking far away from her.

'You're spirit is grumbling from hunger!' she yells, her chubby braid being tossed all over the place as she happily jumps around me. I only walk forward, ignoring the urge to pull her braid as hard as I could as it almost hitting me in the nose.

'Well you're stomach is!' She says again, trying to poke me in my stomach with her finger.

'Come on! Let's go get udon!' she shouts, pulling me by my arm towards the only food stand lit with a red lamp at this hour.

Somehow I remember the noodles that day being chewier, the broth richer, the garnish fresh as the flavours all came together into one. Perhaps it tasted better because we had worked hard to kill the demon, so the food was well-earned even though I refused many times to go with you back then. Thinking back, perhaps even then, you were the one who didn't give up on me. I may not have seen in then, too busy caught up in my own space of misery, I think I see now. That even back then, you must have known that I wasn't happy. The actions I found irritating back then, I now see that you were trying to keep me company somehow.

You wanted to pull me away from the miserable place I built for myself, didn't you?

Perhaps...your sole reason for leading me to peace was not just because the Master had asked you to.
