Chapter 20 (feat.🐞)

Y/n's pov

'Isn't this just the best?' Mitsuri says dreamily as she chews the iced mochi as you all lean against the wall of the onsen, the cold sensation of the mochi contrasting against the steaming water below your shoulders.

'This is something you can only really enjoy in winter.' You say, the iced mochi almost melting in your mouth.

'Pretty much the only perk of winter!' Shinobu says, her being the insect hashira, you knew that she always preferred spring and summer. This you obviously never agreed because you hated bugs, and snow deer was the spirit of the colder months.

'That's not true, it snows in winter and you can do countless things when it snows!' You argue back, Shinobu only smiling before flinging something at you which you took a full second to realise what it was.

Giyu's pov

'What's that sound? Demons!' The stupid boar boy says once again as we hear the loud scream from the other side, except he quietens for once hearing the others' laughter.

'Shinobu-chan! That was not funny!' I hear Y/n's voice louder than ever, Shinobu's annoying giggle almost echoing into my head through the bamboo shoots.

'Are you sure the onsen is supposed to be relaxing?' I ask, Rengoku only smiling from the opposite side, the boar head submerging his head back into the steaming water.

Y/n's pov

You manage to fling away the ladybug that Shinobu had placed on your arm, it landing on Nezuko's head making her eyes turn into dots. Shinobu giggles, picking it up from her head before letting it back onto the bamboo shoot.

'Y/n-chan is scared of insects!' Shinobu says again, making your sister and Mitsuri laugh watching you glare at her.

'Bugs are disgusting.' You say, sinking lower into the water away from the bamboo with the ladybug slowly crawling upwards.

'You don't want to repeat that, Y/n-chan! You're the one who always says all things are in balance! Bugs keep the soil rich and healthy.' Shinobu says, her aura darkening except you did not care much but to relax after the bug-attack.

'That doesn't change that they're still weird and ugly.' You say, Shinobu about to say something before your sister stops you both just like she would do to young children.

'Shinobu-chan! You shouldn't do things that make your friends uncomfortable. And Y/n-chan! Don't tell the pillars that their breathing source is disgusting! You wouldn't be happy if someone told you that your snow deer is ugly, would you?' She says and you both settle back into the quiet enjoying the iced mochi.

You find Giyu walking back towards the main estate as you walk back yourself, his whole yukata dripping with steaming water although everyone else's were dry, just as they were before. Stepping aside, you let the others walk past, waiting for Giyu.

'What happened to your clothes?' You ask, him somehow looking more tired after the "relaxing" spirit onsen compared to him before.

'He forced me into the water.' He says curtly, his usual sharp blue orbs flicking over to Inosuke. He looks so moody that you barely manage to hold back your laughter.

'But you're the water hashira. How did he get you?' You ask again, him turning even moodier at that as he walks beside you.

'The stupid boar can pull.' He says, only pulling the towel over his steaming yukata tighter around himself.

'Looks like you didn't get to relax at all.' You say more to yourself, following the fresh smell of breakfast, Giyu moving to walk in front of you.

'Come to think of it... did you get any sleep last night? I just woke up on my bed, so I wasn't sure if you could make it back to your room all right after staying so long on the pavilion.' You ask, which Giyu responds by stopping abruptly on his spot that you accidentally shove your face into his back.

'What...was that for!' You say, rubbing your forehead.

'I made it back fine.' He says quietly, his shoulders looking even more tired at your comment although you could see his ears turning almost as red as Tanjiro's hair.

'Do you have fever?' you ask dryly, only to make him start walking faster.

'For breakfast we have prepared hitsumabushi with nori, agedashi tofu, and miso soup. Fruits and oolong tea will be served for dessert. Please enjoy.' Aiko-san says as the other maids bring out the food onto the table, Tanjiro restraining Inosuke's hand from flying out onto the food as she explains.

'Itadakimas!' You all say once the food was placed on the table, having changed into fresh yukata that the maids had prepared.

'Hitsumabushi is so delicious, Aiko-san!' Your sister exclaims as she chews the food, Aiko-san only smiling at her before bowing, walking out of the dining room.

'I don't think I can get used to the headquarter's food again! UMAI!' Kyojuro says as he almost inhales his dish, Nezuko only staring at him with her dot eyes from the distance.

'You like everything you eat.' You almost spew out your rice hearing Giyu say blankly, your sister from the other side of the table only giving you a weary smile watching you hide your mouth with your hands.

'What do you mean, Giyu! I only like tasty food!' Kyojuro says with his usual bright voice, and you could already tell Shinobu was going to comment about Giyu speaking up for the first time from the whole meal.

'Ara ara! I see Tomioka-san is finally making friends!' She says, giggling once again ignoring Giyu looking even more tired even as he eats.

'Shinobu-chan!'

'Aah, Sayuri-chan?'
