"To be the bride of a Mafia Boss."

• • •

A LIVING CORPSE BRIDE—that's what the whole organization calls the woman Israel has brought home after a long, bloody night.

She was a woman who was stiff and lifeless, as though her life had been extinguished a long time ago; she was a porcelain doll who did not have her own will. Israel treated her like any bride would, but in exchange for the affection he shows, there is a side of him that tears horror and obsession over every inch of her.

Althea looked at herself in the mirror, her face covered in make-up, as a female member of the organization was busy dolling her into the woman they assumed she should be.

"Close your eyes; I'll be applying eyeshadow next," the woman uttered as she sat there silently.

For the next couple of days, the man had everyone in the palm of his hands. turning the tables upside down the moment he came home and brought a woman by his side. He did not even let anyone protest regardless of their opinions, and for her, who did not have a voice to speak, she could not even refuse a marriage of confusion and pure impulse.

They say that he was smitten, enchanted, by her, yet they have no idea what lies behind their strange, abhorrent relationship.

Truth be told, she does not know what is going through his mind. What she only knows is that this man is sick to the head.

Someone who has a loose thread or is a sociopath. She could tell in an instance that the man does not harbor love but instead something more of a strange intention.

There was no love, no affection.

There was just lust; an unending and disgusting feeling of flesh gliding towards each other.

"I think you'd look great in nude lipstick."

She snapped back to reality when she heard the woman speaking to her. She looked at her with the same morbid expression as the woman applied matte makeup to her lips.

Slowly, the light in her was perishing, and just like the rumors among the people, she was turning into a lifeless corpse.

"I'm not sure how you ended up with the boss, but you are probably one lucky woman," she says afterwards.

"A lot of women are fantasizing about him, and yet, out of everyone, he chose you."

Every time she hears the word "lucky," Althea cannot help but want to knit her forehead.

She could not utter a word of disdain, knowing full well that all the people in this household were holding a weapon in any of their pockets and are sided with none other than their boss.

That was something she learned just after she was locked up in that man's bedroom two days ago.

"AMOR."

As soon as they were the only people in the room, Althea couldn't help but feel a chill down her spine. The sight of the man's overbearing presence dominated her whole being as she stood there shivering.

She can still vividly remember how the man claimed her viciously. His touches clasped on her bare skin, and those broad shoulders caught her in her most sinful act.

The night was filled with an erotic sense of lust, yet, for some reason, two hearts did not fall in love. Only fear and helplessness crept into her system until she was broken.

Instead, there was only the feeling of pleasure and the unbearable pain of losing something.

Althea blinked her eyes yet again when she reverted back to reality. The man did not force himself on her, yet she knows that she still doesn't want what is happening right now.
