How to Survive Being a Woman

1. Be paranoid: Look over your shoulder. Watch for anything suspicious.

2. Assume the worst: Feel like someone's watching you; walk away briskly (but not too quickly that whoever may be following you can tell you notice them and give chase) and take a long, winding path to your destination.

3. Use your elbow or palm: Punching incorrectly can do more harm than good.

4. Walk in groups during the day: Try not to walk at night.

- If you must walk at night, take the most well-lit path. Again, walk in groups. (Have you ever tried to get a group of people to all agree to do something? It's hard.)

5. If out: Make sure you know how to order an "Angel Shot" and/or carry a tracker/alarm. This is so you can get out of bad situations and, so trusted friends and family know where you are in case you don't feel safe.

6. When eating and drinking: Never leave food or drinks unattended in public places. This mostly eliminates the possibility of someone slipping you sleeping drugs or other substances that could put you in danger.

7. Have confidence: Being in a bad situation may require you to ask others for help, or simply to be willing to stand up for yourself and make your presence known to those unaware of what is happening.

8. Tell others: If you feel unsafe, or something feels off. The people you are close to will care. The strangers around you might be able to help. Don't be silent.

9. Don't obstruct your senses: Being aware of your surroundings will lower the chances of anything bad happening to you. When on walks or hikes, don't wear headphones. Wear shoes you can run in, just in case.

10. It's not your fault: Whether you were harassed, raped, or just "over-reacted." Please, know it wasn't because of you. You didn't ask for it. You weren't unprepared. You couldn't have known. You aren't dirty.
They are.
Whoever harassed you, raped you, or made you feel queasy. It's their fault. They wanted you to ask for it, so they took it. They are the dirty ones. They are filthy scum. They may be proud of it, but you shouldn't be ashamed.
It wasn't you.
It was them.
And they are absolutely horrid for doing it.
