Chapter Twelve

~~~~~ Taylor - The past never stays in the past ~~~~~
      "So you're telling me that the girl you spilled cold ass coffee on is THE Alexandria. Like your girl. Like the girl you took a mother effing bullet for?" Katelyn paced back and for not quite believing that she had actually met the infamous girl. She stopped pacing and went to see if Taylor was alright since she hadn't said a word in a few minutes. Taylor was never the loud one but she was never this quite. It freaked Katelyn out considering how cool she seemed after encountering the said Alexandria Santiago.
"Taylor, girl are you even on planet earth right now?" Katelyn snapped her fingers in front of Taylor's face knowing very well how much the girl hated such thing. When Taylor was out of whatever place her mind took her, Katelyn was finally able to see that the girl was by no means okay.
"She didn't know who I was. I mean Kate she looked at me like she had never seen me before. You saw it. It's like she just looked right through me." Taylor felt a tear roll down her check. She let her emotions take over for a few moments but then decided that enough was enough. She had suffered for an entire year. All she did was think about Alex. The entire year revolved around forgetting the girl that never left her mind.
Her whole life seemed to have revolved around the girl's memory. They had shared more than just a friendship. They had shared more than just a connection. They had shared more than a kiss, but Taylor was most definitely done. She was done with Alexandria Santiago. Or so she desperately wanted to believe. She had spent way too much time on the girl. It wasn't getting her anywhere. She needed to stop, but she din't know how, or even if she wanted to.
"Let's just finish cleaning the tables so we can go see Game of Thrones. I am finally understanding why you spend hours being a couch potato. The girls are quite a view." Taylor got up and went to the nearest table. She just wanted to get out the café. It had witnessed the biggest humiliation of her life. She would definitely be okay if her boss would give her a few days off. It's not like she needed the money anyways.
"And for the record, I never said she was my girl. She never belonged to me. I always knew she and Kylie were together. I shouldn't have kissed her in the first place. That was a big mistake." Taylor said turning to her friend and co-worker. Katelyn remained quite not understanding how her friend was acting. ''And furthermore I don't regret taking the bullet for her. Anyone would have taken it. I did nothing special." Taylor knew she was lying through her teeth but still wanted to convince herself that what she was telling Katelyn was the whole and utter truth.
At this Katelyn had to speak. "Hell to the no. I beg to differ. Not everyone would have done what you did for that girl. And plus you're acting like she means nothing to you after your so called encounter with her. You never know if there were complications with her surgery. You said she was shot multiple times and one grazed her head. Now I am no expert but I do think that she may not even remember you. Have you never seen like every fucking romantic movie ever?" Her logic even impressed Katelyn herself.
"You watch too many movies, Kate. And I hate to break it to you but life is nothing like a movie. You don't always get the person. You don't always get the happy ever after or even the white picket fence and the stupid dog." Taylor scrubbed the table down with such aggression that it shined as if it were new. Thing was she really didn't mind the domestic life or even the stupid dog. She was all up for that kind of life. She just wanted it with the right girl. She also knew that Alexandria being that girl was highly unlikely, but that didn't stop her from picturing it.
"Naw you got it all wrong my friend." Katelyn walked up to Taylor and put her arm around her. "You already did the hard part. You met the girl. You took a bullet for her. But most importantly, life has brought her right to you. Seriously Tay like why the hell are you not happy about any of this. This is like fate giving her to you in a silver platter. She could have lost her memory so you can get a redo. That is like the best thing that could ever have happened to you." Kate saw the annoyed expression on her friend's face and knew she had to back off. Taylor was not one to be messed with. Yet Katelyn knew she was right which was why she was so interested in her friend's romantic, or lack thereof, affairs.
