The Red Room.

Surely, Natasha Romanoff had bled to death.

There was no logical explanation for why Captain America was here in the Red Room. She tried to protect him when she gave him the file meant for Nick Fury, omitting the coordinates of the aircraft and key details that could get them hurt. She should've known Steve would delve into the location anyway. "Am I dead? Oh my god, am I in hell?" She asked in utter disbelief. She was only partly joking.

"No, you're not dead." Steve laughed softly.

She could not help but smile, even though she was pretty sure she was going to die from blood loss because the puncture wound across her abdomen was still bleeding.

She then started to cough, trying to clear her lungs of the dust and smoke swirling in the air. She still could not see through the darkness cloaking the destruction around her. However, she was becoming increasingly aware of Steve's hand on her trapped leg as he worked to free her, slinging rocks and concrete around as if they weighed nothing. She vividly remembered how effortlessly he carried her through his apartment in Washington D.C. as they made out, her thighs wrapped around his waist and strong muscles moving against her body. She was beginning to think something was wrong with her for having such a lurid thought in this situation. She needed to be dead or at least going delirious because he wasn't supposed to be here, and she didn't want him to see her like this. Yet there he was, and she really wanted to kiss him, to feel his muscles against her aching body and his soft, full lips moving with hers. She knew how good it would feel, how good of a kisser he was, and god - she was stupid.

Something was definitely wrong with her.

When she felt pressure dissipate from her leg, he wrapped his arm around her and carefully slid her out from underneath the rocks. "I have so many questions." She hissed through her teeth. The pain was nearly unbearable, and she felt it through her entire body. Although, her leg was the least of her worries as she was overwrought with nausea. She clenched her fists, determined not to throw up in front of Steve. It was already embarrassing that he saw her like this, and she did not want to embarrass herself any further.

"So do I. Are you okay?"

"I'll be fine. Just having the time of my life right now." She choked out and let him help her to her feet. The sunlight flickered through the destruction around them, and she could see shadows cast across his handsome face as he was not wearing his helmet. He must've gotten more handsome since she last saw him a few days ago or she'd forgotten just how captivating he was, which seemed frankly impossible. As she stared at him, she did not realize she stumbled backward until he grasped her arms and held her against him.
