the night of the party approached quicker than alex thought it would, the days blurring by at a startling pace for the boy. it was like he blinked, and all of a sudden it was friday, and chris was calling him for his address so he could come pick the newcomer up.
getting off the phone, alex took a large breath in to keep himself from freaking out. it was just a party, he had no reason to be so freaked out about it, and it wasn't like he wouldn't know anybody there! his friends were the ones he was going to be hanging out with at the party, and maybe he'd get to make some new friends too! and, if it came down to it, he could hang out with jessica and angela, or even eric too!
"alex, you might wanna hurry up if you need to finish getting ready. your friends will probably get here soon!" ostana calls from the other side of his door, causing him to jump slightly before rushing to get his things together.
"yeah, i know! i'll be out in just a minute!"
he threw on one of his slightly dressier dark green shirts, rolling the sleeves up to his elbows before pulling on some slim black jeans. taking another deep breath, he observes himself in the mirror one more time before putting on some extra deodorant, grabbing his things, and then walking out of his room.
turning into the living room, he groans at the sight of ostana standing in the way of him and the front door, a camera in hand and a wide grin on her face.
"what the hell, 'stana."
"it's your first party! awe, my little boy is growing up!" she dramatically exclaims, already snapping pictures of him much to his embarrassment. he shouts at her to stop, walking up to her and trying to snatch the camera out of her hands, but ostana continues to laugh and take pictures of him. even when alex finally was able to take the camera from her, she kept laughing and cooing at the poor teenager, and it didn't stop when the doorbell was suddenly rung a few moments later.
alex rolled his eyes in response to her laughter, heading for the front door and looking through the peephole before smiling and unlocking the door, opening it to see chris grinning at him on the porch.
"hey, buddy! you ready for your first la push bonfire party?!" he shouts in excitement, chuckling afterwards and reaching forward to bring alex into a quick hug before letting go and pulling away. "anyways, you about ready to go?"
nodding, alex says, "yeah, just about. just let me grab a jacket and say bye real quick."
chris hums at him, taking to observing the outside of the moon household while alex takes his jacket out of the front closet, calling out to ostana, "hey, 'stana, i'm leaving! be back later!"
"alright!" she shouts back, and the boy can almost hear the smile in her voice. "don't do anything i would or wouldn't do! and have fun!"
"okay!" with that, alex walked out the front door, closing and locking it behind him before following after chris, who grinned at him once again and hopped into his waiting truck. alex could already hear two voices from inside the vehicle, but he didn't pay much attention to who they belonged to, waiting for his friend to climb into his truck before doing so as well, upon realizing that the passenger seat had been left empty.
"hey," he greets, turning to find hailey and jessica sitting in the backseat, huddled together and holding onto each other with smiles on their faces. they both look up at his greeting, nodding back.
"hey, alex. you ready for la push?" jessica questions, lips twisting into a slight smirk, only for hailey to roll her eyes and lightly smack her arm.
"shut up, jess, you're making it out to be so much weirder compared to forks when they're literally part of the same town. stop it."
