alex was starting to rethink everything.
i know, i know, you're just like, already? he's starting to get second thoughts now, when he's about to pull up to school after he was so excited for it before?
yeah, alex found it ridiculous, too.
but, he wasn't used to being the new kid, after having gone to school with the same people for the majority of his life. up until the incident, he'd been a normal kid from thailand, going to normal school, with a set group of normal friends, and a normal family. he'd been an average citizen just living his life.
since ostana, though, everything that he'd had, had fallen apart. he hadn't been to an actual school in a year, his old friends all probably thought he was dead or dropped off the face of the earth, and his family...
forcing the thoughts out of his head, alex puts on a smile as ostana pulls up to the school, trying his best to hide how nervous he was. forks was a small town where everyone knew everyone, so it wasn't likely that he'd be dismissed so easily on his first day of school.
"hey," ostana's voice catches his attention from the swell of staring students, and he turns to face the concerned woman. "everything will be alright, alex. even if you don't make that many friends at first, you'll do just fine here. you're a smart kid, dude."
he scoffs and playfully rolls his eyes at her, saying, "don't call me a kid, 'stana. anyway, i'll see you here after to pick me up?"
ostana nods, smiling at him again and watching as he opens the door and climbs out of the car, grabbing his bag and waving at her before walking off. she sighs, watching for a few more seconds, then drives out of the parking lot, on her way to her new job.
alex was quick to find the office upon entering the school, avoiding all the peering eyes staring his way as he did. he smiles at the woman at the front desk, who returns the smile with a confused look.
"i'm sorry, can i help you?"
"uh, yeah, my name is alex moon? i'm new here?"
her eyes flash in recognition, and her lips twist into a pleasant smile as she nods at him, fishing around for something on her desk.
"ah, of course! just give me a second, your schedule is right here!" within the next five seconds, another student walks into the office, her eyes landing on alex before turning back to the desk lady. once the woman looked up, brandishing a sheet of paper with what was obviously a schedule printed on it, her eyes caught the redheaded girl, and she smiled once again.
"ah, here you go, sir. your schedule. and, this young lady right here is meredith carson, your student guide for the day, or in the future as well if you need her. meredith, this is alexander moon, the new student," she introduces, and alex takes the paper with a slight grimace.
"it's just alex, actually."
"hm?" she hums, confused, and he flashes a weary smile.
"my name isn't alexander, it's just alex," he explains, sighing internally when she frowns lightly in confusion.
"oh, i'm sorry. i just assumed-"
"no, no, it's fine. um, we should probably get going to class," alex placates, making his smile more friendly and understanding, and the woman nods once more, but then her head perks up as she remembers something.
"oh, right, you need to have all your teachers sign the paper, and make sure to bring it back here after classes are over, okay?" when alex gives her a nod in response, she waves the two of them out of the office, and alex quickly falls into step with the redhead, newly dubbed as meredith.
