alex didn't understand why he was anticipating embry's call so much.
it had been almost a week since the party, and embry hadn't called yet. granted, he hadn't exactly expected the quilete boy to call him right away, but he didn't expect to get so anxious about not receiving a call at all. embry didn't have to call him, and alex shouldn't expect him to, but there was an incessant voice in his head that made him want to hear embry's voice.
that thought made his cheeks flush slightly, but alex quickly shook those thoughts from his head and tried to focus on his assignment. maybe the upcoming full moon was part of why he was so antsy about everything?
"alex, you good?"
eyes leaving his paper with the assignment printed on it, he glances up at bella briefly before turning his gaze back to his paper.
"yeah, why?"
"you just seem a bit distracted," she whispers, and it was times like this that the teen was glad she had such a low voice. the teacher was already getting onto another student for talking loudly to his friend when this was a single person assignment, and alex would not feel great if he got in trouble for the same reason.
"i'm fine," her murmurs back to her, glancing back up at the teacher before writing down what he hoped was the answer to the question. he still wasn't all too familiar with "romeo and juliet" so he had a bit of trouble on assignments sometimes.
which was sorta the good thing about bella when they partnered up for assignments in class.
the girl gave him a quick glance that gave away she didn't exactly believe his words, but he elected to ignore her in favor of the assignment. thankfully, he was able to finish it before class was over, and he quickly handed the paper in before walking out of the classroom.
he dodged mike and his unnecessarily suspicious glares and almost ran down the halls to the front entrance. he waves and smiles at the lady in the office, who just waved back without actually looking up. she was used to him practically sprinting out the doors once the bell rang at this point, and it wasn't like he was a troublemaker so she didn't bother trying to reprimand him.
ostana was waiting once again in the parking lot, looking around at other students getting ready to leave with a slightly nervous look on her face. it was one alex recognized, and it just made him hurry to the car faster.
he knocks on the window and she just about hits her head on the roof from jumping in her seat. she unlocks the car and he swiftly climbs in, turning concerned eyes onto the wide eyed woman.
"are you alright, 'stana? you're, like, insanely jumpy. do you need me to drive home?"
she just gives him a small, tense smile in return and shakes her head.
"i'm fine, al, no need to worry. it's just, the full moon is so close, you know how nervous i get this time of the month," she snorts slightly at her little joke, but continues, "and i'm fine to drive, you don't need to. let's just go home, okay?"
staring at her worriedly for a few more seconds with the woman matching his stare, he finally sighs and relents, putting his seatbelt on and resting back into the seat. ostana gives off a realer smile this time, then starts the car and soon pulls out of the lot.
the ride home was generally quiet, but they reached their house quickly enough and hurried inside. alex's nerves from the impending full moon were beginning to get to him as well, but he tended to lean more towards anger than panic like ostana did. he didn't really understand if that was generally a 'werewolf' thing or a 'him' thing, but it didn't actually matter.
