chapter nine

Fuck Ashtray. First of all, the fact that HE kissed ME when HE had a girlfriend? what the fuck is that about? and then he acts like it was nothing that he cheated on his girlfriend and fucking played me. Well, I mean, the bitch deserves it but still. Thank god It's Maddy's birthday tomorrow, and she's having the party tonight because I need to be distracted. She decided to have a small girls thing at the Howard's with Cas, Lex, Kat, BB and me. I decided to wear my hair in a slick back ponytail and I wore a navy silk slip dress. 

We hadn't been at the party for long now but it was about to hit 12am which is when it would be officially maddy's birthday and we were standing around the table watching Maddy brightly smile at the lit up birthday cake that had a picture on Maddy on it.  

"Happy birthday to you....," we all sung. I stood next to Maddy, holding her hand as she was filmed by everyone else. Maddy always loved her birthday and I've made sure to be with her for every single one since we became friends. After the song was over, Maddy leant in and made a wish whilst blowing out all the candles at once. 

I pulled her into a massive hug, "happy birthday girl." 

There was food spread out all over the table as we sat down and each took turns in giving Maddy our presents. Everyone else had gone and it was now Cassie and I left but it made sense forCassie to go last since they've known each other the longest. 

I handed Maddy the wrapped box and sent her a smile. She smiled back at me as she unwrapped the gift to reveal an 'I am Gia' box. 

"Kenz," she grinned. I know how much she loves I am Gia and nothing screams her more than their clothes. She opened up the box and pulled out the short red detailed dress I brought her and she imminently squealed. The dress was far from basic and that's why I knew it was just perfect for her. 

"What the fuck Kenz!" she squealed, jumping up and pulling me into an extremely tight 'Maddy' hug. "I love it so much." 

"I knew you would," I smiled. 

"Show us!" BB squealed. Maddy held up the dress and everyone gasped. 

"Shit Kenz that's the most Maddy dress I've ever seen," Kat laughed. 

Maddy gave me another hug and smiled at me, "Thank you so much." 

After Maddy opened my gift, Cassie gave her her's which sent everyone into tears. She had created a photo book of nearly every memory of theirs and you could tell she put so much effort and time into it. 

We had finished eating, presents and taking as many group photos as possible and now it was time to drink and finally take my mind off everything from today. 

"Any of you snitches to your parents about this, your days at the Howard house are finito burrito," Suze called from the kitchen. She was talking about the fact that she'd just gone out and got  us like 50 cases of beer and white claws as well as a couple bottles of vodka. 

"Never that serious," Maddy slurred. She'd probably already drank more than her body can take and we only started 30 minutes ago. 

"Cheers!" I called out as every clinked their drinks together. 

"To my beautiful girls!" Suze smiled.

'This is how we do it' was blasting on the speakers and everyone had already had way to much to drink to the point that forming a full sentence was almost impossible. 

Suze was currently trying to tweak in the living room as Maddy, BB, Lex and I all hyped her up. I couldn't seem to see Cassie or Kat anywhere so I told Maddy to try find Kat whilst I looked for Cassie. I walked out of the living room to see her sitting on the bottom of the stairs, chugging a drink. 

"Woah Cass, slow down," I giggled. 

She looked up at me with red puffy eyes. It looked like she had been crying.

"Are you okay?" I asked sitting down on the stairs next to her. "You've seemed off recently." 

She turned to look at me with a worried smile like she was scared I knew something, "What, what do you mean. What are you talking about?"

"You just seem upset," I shrugged. 

Cassie was about to reply when there was a knock at the front door and she quickly jumped up to answer it. She's been so weird recently and I'm dying to know what's going on. She's never normally this worried and uptight about everything. I walked towards to door to see who was knocking and turns out it was Nate Jacobs. Cassie and him were talking but he looked pretty uninterested in the conversation. 

"Yo Kenz," he called out. I tried my hardest not to roll my eyes at him as I walked up to the door and Cassie stomped away. 

"Hi Nate," I fakely smiled. "Maddy! Nates here!" I called out. 

Her face lit up when she saw him and the small blue Tiffany bag standing at the front door, "Hey!" Her words were slurred which made me want another drink. I decided to leave them alone as I walked over to the drink table and poured myself a shot and downed it with no face pulled. Then I downed another, and another and one more. After the fourth shot, I was finding it a lot harder to stand but thats exactly what I was going for.
