3: An Odd Behaviour In The Air.
..
Enna's pov
Underneath the sponge I have in my slender hand, soap bubbles up from beneath it and sudds up the rest of my hand and the plate.
For some reason, I feel like I should run. That I should go home and never think of this place again.
"Uhm... Hey..." I hear an extremely deep voice behind me and look over my shoulder to see Corpse stood there.
"Hiya, you done?" I smile and turn back to my dishes that I'm nearly done with washing.
"Do you have... Uhm signal?" He asks.
"I'm not sure. Check my phone, it's in my pocket." I keep washing the dishes up. He walks over and delicately takes out my phone from my pocket.
"No. You have no bars too." H shakes his head.
"I thought they said he had WiFi here?" I squint, putting the last plate on the side and whacking my hands in the air to shake off the water before grabbing a towel and drying myself. I turn around on my heels and cross my arms.
"I wondered if it were because the generator wasnt turned on but it isn't. I don't have any phone signal at all either." Corpse shows me his phone too.
"Maybe there's a WiFi box here that just needs resetting now that the generator was turned on?" I suggest. I immediately begin laughing and he does too.
"No be serious. For this to work we have to be serious-" he stops laughing and clears his throat.
"Maybe. For now, lets go and let the horses out." He nods and starts walking to the front door. I jog over to catch up and follow him out into the hot, Texas, morning air.
"Wouldn't you say something feels off?" I mumble to the taller man at my side. He's got to be around 5"10 or 5"11 atleast.
"Stop thinking about the woods. You'll freak yourself out, it's only the first day too." Corpse pat's my head gently. I nod and approach the horse's stables.
"End to top?" I suggest pointing down the way.
"Yea can do." He nods. We make our way down to the end stall there a beautiful black and brown pony stands waiting to be let free.
"Morning gorgeous!" I laugh and pet her before pulling the bolt and lifting the latch on the bottom. I give it a good tug and the door flies open.
Corpse keeps his hands in front of him and helps guide the horse to where she needs to go.
I move onto the next stall and so on, so forth until each of the horses are running off onto the paddock.
"Look at us go!" I hold my hand up to corpse. He high fives me and chuckles.
"Wonder how everyone's doing." I fold my arms over my chest, leaning on the fence.
"Probably just fine. I mean, it shouldn't take too long to do those jobs so they should be done now if not done ages ago." He nods as he speaks.
"Right. Let's go back to the house then hm?" I suggest. He nods and opens the gate to let me through. I walk through it and he follows, shutting it behind him.
We sit in the living room, surprised that actually no one is done yet.
"I feel really odd." I mumble, looking out of the window that coincidentally displays the woods perfectly.
"Stop focusing on it." I feel a gentle grip on my face as it turns to face corpse instead. I go red, my hear hot and palms sweaty.
"HEY GUYS WE'RE BACK!" Rachell walks into the home with Sykkuno and Tyler.
"Where are the other two?" I ask, nimbly.
"Uhm..." Sykkuno looks around.
"I thought they were here." Tyler squints.
"I'll look for them, in the mean time, we should all just get to know eachother." I smile and stand up, walking to the front door.
"I'll be on the porch if you need me for any reason Enna." Corpse says, getting up and following me.
"Okay, thank you." I nod and head out, taking a cigarette from my pocket and lighting it as I go.
I head down the center of the farm and take glances around. I know Ein did the eggs because he's left a basket of them on the floor by the fence but Sasha was supposed to have been with Tyler watering the plants but I guess not.
"Sasha! Ein!!" I call out and wait for a response while I keep walking. I curse myself for even volunteering to look for the two of them.
I hear a scream, very very similar to Sasha's and u look towards the first place coming to mind, the woods. Now I wish I hadn't because I am the type of person to get a kick out of being afraid. It's fun. Atleast it makes me feel something.
"Sasha!! Is that you?!" I near enough scream.
"I'm here what are you talking about?" A voice behind me makes me jump and I spin around nearly falling over.
"But I just heard..." I look at her confused face and decide I was hearing things.
"Come on, Eins already on his way back." Sasha starts walking. Up the path, I see Ein heading for the house. What? How?
I look back to the woods and my blood runs cold upon seeing someone or... Something stood in it's wake.
My eyes widen and I slowly walk towards it, not by my own decisions.
"Hello? There's not supposed to be anyone but me and my friends here?" I call out to the thing.
"ENNA!" Corpse screams and runs over to me, grabbing my arm and yanking me to look at him.
"Corpse! Corpse there was someone stood there And I hear a scream!" I grip his arms, fear coating my eyes.
"Listen to me!"
"Corpse please we have to call the police or something he was just stood there! That thing!" I protest.
"ENNA LISTEN!" He yells, finally, that gets my attention and I stop he hugs me tight and strokes my hair, "they were probably just passing by. Ricky told us there are a few people who pass here but they never stay long."
That does put me at ease but it still scares me. Who was that? Why were they just staring at me?
