Saying that Clover was happy right then was a complete understatement. For the first time, Clover felt giddy and excited. Paying no mind to Braith, whom she knew was silently laughing at her, she stared out the car window at the passing city lights.
It was beautiful. The towering and small buildings alike were alight with a lively thrum and people were bustling down the streets, smiling and laughing. The city was alive in the coming of night. How she had missed this before, Clover didn't know but now that she was seeing it, it was utterly amazing.
"We're here, you know." Braith said with a laugh. Clover blinked and turned, silently glaring at him before leaning forward and looking up at the restaurant.
The outside was designed elegantly, exuding a high-class atmosphere. The lighting around the building was subtle, offering a romantic like setting to it. And the sign that rested above the spinning, glass door was a color that blended well into the building but the lettering still stood out and attracted attention. The design of the letters was fancy and lit, but it wasn't a gaudy attraction to the eye.
"Uhm...Braith? This seems like quite the high end place..." She whispered nervously, looking at him. Clover nearly gasped in shock when she saw the smile on his face. He was being so different around her in just a short time, but she found that she favored this Braith over the crotchety old man he normally was.
"Yes. You'll owe me later though, servant." It wasn't the harsh, owning tone he normally used with her. This time it was playful and he had a sort of twinkle in his eyes. Clover rolled her eyes.
"Uh huh. Sure." She got out and smiled. It felt foreign as it spread across her face but she liked the feeling it gave her. A feeling of lightness that made her feel like the heavy weight she always bore on her shoulders had disappeared, even just for a little bit.
Braith chuckled. It was a low, husky laugh that sounded like it hadn't been used much. Clover liked to think that he would use it just for her to hear, but that was pure fantasy. "My lady," he said softly, catching her attention. She looked at him and was surprised when he offered her his arm.
Clover hesitated before taking it. It was different, being catered this way. She was being treated like a lady and not just some tool to be used. She felt a blush stain her cheeks and she sighed as they walked inside. Clover knew that she was getting in deep with this assignment, and she knew that at the end of it, the heart she had ignored for the longest time would shatter into unmendable pieces. It was a risk Clover was willing to take. She was ready to feel the love that she had never felt before, eager to obtain the affection that she had always been deprived of. With both hers and Braiths feelings growing, it gave her that chance to have it. To have all the things that Clover had never known.
She was determined to experience all that she could for as long as she could. It was amazing how quickly one assignment could turn into a life altering decision. I'm in quite the trouble, aren't I, Hecate?
Braith marveled and silently seethed all in one moment. As soon as they had stepped through those doors, every man's attention was on the woman standing tall and elegant beside him. Even in her simple dark blue dress, she shone with an etherealness that caught almost every man's-and woman's-attention. Her crimson red hair flowed down her back, just curling around her wide and luscious hips. Her skin pale and unblemished shone like a crystal inflicted with light. And her vivid purple eyes stood out, capturing and taking in everything with an innate curiosity.
He knew that she had never been to a place quite like this before, but given her work as a maid and as an utter beauty-which he himself couldn't deny-she must have been to quite a few places like this. But watching her now, Braith knew it wasn't true. Clover, although she looked like she belonged amongst the high-class atmosphere, looked utterly uncomfortable.
