I met a boy about my age at school
who was a good guy to talk to and more;
we played and joked around, laughing like fools
till our young lungs and throats turned dry and sore.Our friendship bloomed like flowers in the spring,
its sweetness spreading through the air we passed,
so much that they took it for romancing
and rumors spread through each and every class.But see, not every pair of girl and guy
seen hugging, giggling, or just hanging out
are more than friends. If they must, tell me why?
We're just mere confidants, without a doubt.If only they'd realize something basic:
that lads and lasses can stay platonic.
