Chase on the side

I wake up the next morning. My head hurts, ugh hangovers suck.

Then I remember that horrible dream I had. Well I at least hope it was a dream. I go into my bathroom and am proven wrong.

My whole left eye is swollen shut, my lip is busted open, my cheek is swollen, and my eyebrow is cut. It was like the guy had on rings or something.

The sight disgusts me.

I try to cover it all up with makeup, but it's too bad. I just give up and take the makeup off of my face. I huff and start to get dressed. I put on some leggings, an oversized t-shirt, and some vans. I straighten my hair, trying to cover up the bruises with it, it doesn't work. I just give up. I put on sunglasses and grab my bookbag.

I'm ready to go when I remember Piper. I quietly go to her room. I knock, no reply. I knock again, the same happens. I finally just open the door and see her laying on her bed on her phone.

"If you want me to drive you, you better be in my car in 2 minutes." She actually is in my car when I pull out of my driveway.

The first few minutes are silent until she asks the question that I knew was coming. "So what happened to your face?" I quickly take a glance at her and surprisingly see her looking at me. 99.9% of the time she's looking at her phone. "I fell down some stairs."

She raises her eyebrows, but doesn't have a chance to question me again. We pull up to her school. She gets out of the car and waves as I drive off. Instead of driving the way towards my school I go the way to the mall.

I don't really feel like going to school today, especially with these bruises.

I ended up spending the day at the movie theater watching old movies. The movies were horrible but they were the ones that weren't crowded. I decide it's time to go home, so on the way I think about excuses I can make.

I've made one as soon as I pulled up to my house. I walk in and see my mom waiting my the kitchen door.

She was expecting me.

"Arsen, take a seat. We need to have a talk." I sit down across from my mom. "Arsen, what happened to your face?" Well, getting straight to the point I see. I look up and see her staring at me.

It's like she's trying to read me, see into my soul. It's creepy.

"Mom, i'm not going to lie to you. Last night I was pretty drunk and fell down some stairs. I also might have hit the pavement a few times. The reason I ran up to my room last night was because I knew you would be mad at me." After that my mom lectures me for about 30 minutes about how irresponsible it was for me to get drunk and blah blah blah.

This is better than having to go to the police and all of that stuff. At the end of it I just walk back up to my room. I check my phone and see that I have 110 missed messages and 34 missed calls. Oops, guess I forgot about my phone all day.

Most of them were from my "clique" asking me where I was. There were a few from Stephen and upperclassmen though. I ignore all of them. I avoid school for the rest of the week. It's Saturday. All of my bruises have healed.

Well almost all of them. My eye is still swollen.

I just planned to stay at home and watch movies all day. I hear a knock on my window. I look outside of it and see Chase throwing rocks. I somehow manage to get him up and into my room.

"You do know that you could've just used the front door like a normal person, right?" I say raising my eyebrows put at him.

He smiles and says "Yeah, but I thought this would be more romantic." I just smile. He's so cheesy.

"So what do you want?" He puts his hand over his heart as is he's offended. "I just wanted to see my favorite person in the whole wide world named Arsen." I laugh. " I'm the only person you know that's named Arsen." He just shrugs jumping in my bed. "I just wanted to make sure you weren't dead. The whole groups been worried sick about you, Arsen. You wouldn't answer any of our texts or calls."

Great, now I feel guilty.

"And not only have we been worried, but so has the whole school. Especially your little boyfriend." He spits out the late sentence like it's poison in his mouth.

I look at him questioningly. "You know, that creepy kid you showed around. The one that looks like he would kill you grandmother." Realization hits me.

"You're talking about Skyler." He looks at me and nods. "Whatever his name is, he's been glaring at everybody. He even went off on a few teachers, man that kid is crazy. I bet you he's gonna shoot up the school." I smile then think about what he said. "Wait, why did you call Skyler my boyfriend?"

He frowns. "You need to go back to school so I can stop filling you in on stuff. But anyways, Stephen was talking about how you and him hooked up and that Skyler guy went ballistic. I'm surprised he didn't get expelled."

This surprises me. "Well he's not my boyfriend." I mutter. "Good." Chase says. "Good?" I question. "Yeah, I don't like the idea of you having a boyfriend." I just look at him. "I feel possessive over you. You're mine and I don't like sharing." I think before speaking "Well, you sure are possessive for a FRIEND." Clearly stating our status.

"Arsen, I miss you babe." Is this guy serious. "Chase, I think-"

I get cut off by Chase's lips on mine. I kiss him back.

We break apart for air. "You want me to." Chase says. "So how about this babe. Do you want to get back together?" I think about it for awhile and then kiss him. I guess Chase and I are dating now.

The weekend consisted of Chase and I cuddling.

I missed this.

On Sunday Chase leaves and I decide that i'm going to school on Monday. My eye is getting better and it looks like I have a small stye in it. While Chase was here he didn't pry about my face.

I just told him the same story I told my mom, and he bought it.

Thats something that I love about Chase. He doesn't ask too many questions.
