NICHOLAS (Narrating):
[Change is not something we can escape. It's seldom bad, but it can be scary, and unfamiliar, making us feel unsafe. When I was younger, the concept was harder to grasp but now that I was an adult, it seemed it was never-ending. But for some of us, no matter how old we are, or in this case, how long we've been around, change is still hard to accept:

There was no better example of that than McGee. However, even he couldn't evade it forever, no matter how hard he tried.]

*Many of Nicholas' former schoolmates and friends had moved on out of Eastfield to start their new lives and never looked back, but despite the hardships it took for him to get to where he was today, to Nicholas, Eastfield was home. While others walked out the doors of Eastfield Junior High for the last time in his graduating year, Nicholas returned back through them after University and would continue to walk through them five days a week from September till June every year as its Art Teacher. He enjoyed teaching and inspiring the love of art in his students year in and out. His dreams of being a cartoonist may have been left behind as he got older, but he couldn't imagine doing anything else. But there was one thing that seemed to have followed him since moving to Eastfield all those years ago--and not just McGee.*

MCGEE:
*He popped his head out from Nicholas' messenger bag as they traversed down the quiet hallway of the school an hour before it was set to begin classes for the day.*

Hey uh, the teacher's lounge is the opposite way; that's where the vending machine is, with the Skittles? You owe me for the other day!

NICHOLAS:
*He blinked down a moment.*

Shh, McGee...! How many times do I have to keep telling you to stay in the bag until we get to the classroom? B-besides, I have a detour I need to make--

MCGEE:
Detour? Where--

*His eyes looked ahead, a familiar office door greeting their sight.*

Again? Isn't that the second time in two weeks? You two haven't hung out this much since community college and I'm still trying to wrap my head around it!

NICHOLAS:
We hang out more than that! Psh--

*He rolled his eyes.*

MCGEE:
*He shook his head, crossing his arms as he hung over the bag's rim.*

Nope; in fact the last few times he's offered to go out for drinks, you've refused. Face it, Nicky. You're boring now!

*The toon snickered with a raised, all-knowing brow.*

NICHOLAS:
Am not! I just--I have a lot on my mind lately, that's all; between the baby coming and work and--

MCGEE:
--nearly killing your best friend via glitching drawings?

*He counted the fingers on his hand, before spanning his hand across the air.*

Ya, your schedule is booked solid!

NICHOLAS:
Why do you have to always be so dramatic? Now, get back in there and be quiet, would ya?

*He rolled his eyes, his hands softly rapping at the door frame.*

 Hey, you asked to...uh...see...me?

*He blinked.*

*However, the occupant of the office didn't notice Nicholas, all too engaged with the headset in his ears as he hummed and sang half lyrics, grooving around in his chair at his computer desk, back turned to Nicholas.*

MCGEE:
*He popped his head out again, leaning over as he watched the funny display, the music from the headphones hitting his ears.*

One wouldn't suspect Derrick Cryder to be a Spice Girls fan!

*He quickly crawled out of the bag and made a jump for the desk ahead of them.*
