*The rest of the day would go by calmly, Nick unaware of the racing thoughts of an alternate ending of Romeo and Juliet running rapidly in McGee's mind. He sat in his little corner, thinking and scheming on Ellie's words.
This carried on quietly in his mind until he and Nicholas made it home for the day. Nick did his usual routine of setting his belongings down in his study upstairs before going back into the living room to socialize and catch up with his wife. This gave McGee time to wander free, and he wasted not an ounce of that opportunity today. Sketchbooks were laid out across the desk with some struggle from the toon, old outfits that hadn't seen the light of day in years now being turned through until the right one could be found. Then, old background scenes, in turn, all being set up with hungry eyes around the small blond. Before long, McGee had made himself a proper Romeo outfit with surrounding treelines and a village over yonder from an old adventure of Nicholas', though this time McGee had made it entirely his own. He felt a creative itch being scratched and a long-divided bonding with Ellie, as he projected his alternate ending out loud.*
MCGEE:
--And then Juliet came racing over the horizon, looking for none other than I, her beloved Romeo~! She had even taken my old sword and daggers for her adventure, and she looked absolutely AMAZING in that cloak to conceal her true identity from her family and friends!
*He reached out over the sketchbook horizon.*
Come forth, Juliet! Let us reunite with a kiss!*The idea of kissing Ellie was a whole new feeling that McGee had never experienced before. Back when Nicholas' was younger, they would often both make fun of the concept, with stuck-out tongues and green faces, before Nicholas found Tamara in university. Despite making playful jabs at his now grown-up creator, McGee couldn't help but let curiosity wander, always wondering what love was but never realizing he wanted or even needed it outside the familiar love he shared for Nicholas. No, this was far different, more exciting, scary, and wonderful all at the same time. He paid no mind to the fact that there was, very much so, a size difference between them, instead stuck in his vivid mind of fantasy as he watched Ellie dismount from her steed and run into his open arms, spinning her around, giggles abound as they drew in their noses closer to one another.
His hand reached up and cupped the side of her face, feeling the cool wind tickle their skin, surrounded by nothing but miles of vast open fields, with the city of Verona far in the distance, safe from its clutches. His eyes locked with her green ones, lost in them like he had been earlier in the day, ever so curious about what a kiss from her would feel like. He leaned in slowly.*
Finally...no one to bother us...time, endless--
ELLIE (Daydream):
*She flushed against him, her eyes slipping closed as they leaned in slower still.*
Romeo~
*Her nose brushed his and he swore he heard her giggle as they nearly closed the gap--*
*Suddenly a much more masculine voice cut through the splendor.*
NICHOLAS:
M-McGee...?
MCGEE:
*He quickly snapped out of his reality, the feeling of Ellie in his arms, the cool breeze, all of it, disappearing at the drop of a hat as he whiplashed to see his creator watching him with crossed arms and a concerned expression.*
Uh... h-hey, Nicky...!
*He backed up a touch, standing in front of the scenery scapes as though it would hide them from Nicholas' eyes.*
H-how long you, uh... been standin' there?
NICHOLAS:
I'm not sure long enough, or perhaps too long--
*He looked around the study; it was littered with old and newer sketchbooks abound and McGee was not in his usual attire but dressed up in some princely fashion. He watched as the toon nervously backed up a bit and sat down on a book in amongst the clutter.*
So, what is this all about, and what's with the outfit?
*He tilted his head curiously back and forth.*
