We sit down in conference room B around the circle table. "Why didn't you just kill me?" Jacob asks. "Pardon?" I ask in return. "In your room. Many invaders have died coming in here. Why not kill me?" He asks "I haven't killed someone since the reestablishment broke down and I don't think you'd deserve it, as I said earlier, some people don't have choices in the actions they make" I say "ah so you want answers" Jacob says. "It would help" I say. "But first I'll get you some food. You must be hungry" I say.
"Why did you try to take Grace?" I ask as Jacob chews on a piece of toast. "I was the only one in my group who would be immune to your powers" he says. "Why did you join the rebel group?" I ask. Jacob drops the piece of toast and a single tear rolls down the side of his cheek. "Jacob?" I say "the rebels are ruthless" he says "they took my baby girl" he says "Jacob I'm so sorry" I say as I place my hand over his clenched fist. "After Lucy's mother died I found it very hard to cope. I loved her so much and for he first time in years I felt like I had a real family. We were meant to be married last June but in March my fiancé, Danielle was in a car accident. She died instantly. In the car the police found a present for me. Danielle had gone out to get me a birthday present. I always felt partially responsible for her death." He says through sobs. "What made you join the rebels?" I ask. "The rebels took Lucy" he says "why?" I ask "they needed me. They somehow knew I was immune to all gifts because I had my own so they took my eighteen month old baby and they knew I would come. I did and they said if I got your baby then I would get mine back. I said no. I didn't think it was fair to destroy another child's life to get my own baby back. They locked me up for three days and on the forth, through a slot in the bottom of the door they slid into my cell, a ziplock bag with a note saying "changed your mind yet?" And I the bag were three baby fingers. That tipped me over the edge and I agreed to come here. After a week of feeding me up and training me a bit they put me in the back of a dark van so I didn't know where their base camp was, the only thing I saw was through gunshots through the door. The only building I saw was a robins-egg, blue house. It looked almost new, very pristine and out of place. It was the only building I saw for a very long time. The van stopped a while away from your house and they gave me a map of your base and told me which direction in to get here and then they drove away as soon as I got out the van. There were other people in that van. There was a young boy, an older lady and a girl. The girl talked to me she asked what I was being told to do so I told her. I can't remember her name now." Jacob said "Nina" I say "yeah I think so" he says. "She is our friend. She called me to tell me what was happening and that's how we knew you were in our room" I say. "I'm glad you did find me. I couldn't bare going back to that horrible underground dungeon" he says "their camp was underground?" Kenji asks "Kenji, maybe not the right aspects to focus on right now" I say "no it's okay. Yes their camp was underground. Well everything I saw of it which wasn't much but I saw a sign. Their camp name is alpha point and I don't know if this will help but their slogan is "The bad omega will bring a bright alpha" I don't know what it means though" Jacob says. Kenji gives a light chuckle. "Kenji what is so funny?" I ask "do you not see? They made omega point into "alpha point"" he says. "omega point was blown up. It's not the same place" Aaron says "omega point was much bigger than you two thought and it was a lot deeper. When they blew it up they only got the main parts there was still about four miles of tunnel left they could have expanded it when the rebel group started and the slogan means "the bad end will bring a bright beginning" but they probably meant to make it "the old rebels sucked so we created a stronger group" duh" Kenji says "and what was one of the closest buildings to omega point?" Kenji asks "Aaron's mum's pale blue house" I say suddenly realising. I turn and stare wide eyed at Aaron who looks as shocked as I am. "Do you remember seeing anything else?" Aaron asks "no, sorry" Jacob says. "Jacob you've helped us so much and I promise you we will find these rebels and we will get your daughter back" I say reaching for his hand again. "What's the point? She'll probably be dead by now" he says looking down at our interlocked hands. "Don't loose hope, Jacob when hope is the only thing you have".
