The end of the beginning

By the time we got back from the store it was lunchtime so Rose, Kenji and I quickly went to my parents room to put the paint away then we ran down to the dining room and went to sit with my parents and Arron at our usual table.
"Can we paint two of my walls yellow and two of them pink?" Asked Rose "yeah of course that's why we bought yellow and pink paint" I reply "can you help us paint the room?" I ask Arron "yeah sure. I'll do the bits higher up and you can do the bottom of the walls" he says "great. thank you" I say.
Adam comes into the room and sits down quietly "are you okay?" I ask he looks quite sad "yeah I'm fine. I'm just a bit ill" he says. "Oh hello Adam how are you?" My mum asks. I didn't even know she knew Adam. "Hello Mrs Ferrars I'm fine. how are you today?" He asks "I'm fine dear" she replies. I need to find out how he knows my family. "Can I please speak to you Adam" I say as I stand up. "Yeah sure" he says as he gets out of his seat. I walk towards the door and into one of the spare bedrooms along the corridor. I can hear him following me. As he comes into the room and closes the door he asks "what's the matter?" "How do you know my parents?" I ask "I've seen them around a few times" he basically whispers "what?" I ask "how could you have known who they were" I continue "I went to the same school as you I saw your parents when they dropped you off in the morning." He says "my parents don't look muck like they did fifteen years ago Adam. There's no way you could have recognised them" I say "well I did" he says. Then it clicks. I didn't tell my parents to come here and Arron certainly didn't and the only other person who would even think to invite my parents is Adam. "You did this" I whisper "pardon" he says "you brought my parents here thinking I wouldn't be able to handle it" I say "that's not true" he says "why else would you have brought them here. You thought they would still think of me as a demon and It would destroy me all over again" I say "I've always known you didn't like me and Warner being together but why would you do this" I say. I can feel the lump in my throat rising "it was me that got them to come here but to hurt you and destroy your marriage was not the reason" he says "then what was the reason Adam?" I ask, starting to cry "your parents already knew about everything you told them. I've been going to visit them with updates on your life. They really missed you. I took them photos of you on your wedding day, twenty first birthday, your eighteenth birthday and any others I had. they put every single one in a frame. When I went to see them this week I told them you were pregnant and they asked to see you in person because they wanted to be part of their grandchild's life. They didn't want the baby to grow up without meeting it's grandparents so I brought them and made sure you didn't know it was me that did." He says "why didn't you tell me?" I ask "because I thought it could hurt you. You didn't exactly have the best child life" he says quietly "okay well I suppose I should thank you. However it may have happened I finally have my parents back" i say. He just smiles at me "I better go back and get some lunch" he says and he turns around and heads for the door "Adam wait" I call. He turns around and stares at me. I run over and pull him into a hug. He wraps his arms around me "thank you" I whisper into his chest "anytime" he says into my hair. We pull apart and I wipe my eyes clean. "Does it look like I've been crying?" I ask "not at all" he says and we both walk out the door.
When i get back to my seat and Adam goes to get his lunch Arron asks "are you okay?" "Yeah I'm fine. It was Adam who got my parents to come but I'll tell you about it later." I whisper so only he can hear. "Okay" he whispers back.
After lunch my parents walk hand in hand with Rose swinging her back and forth while Arron, Kenji and myself walk behind them. "So I'm going to help your parents and you guys will be painting the kids bedroom" Kenji asks "yes. And thank you for helping Kenji" I reply "no problem but you two behave in there. You will be with a six year old girl so no funny business" he says smiling "Kenji!" I say and nudge his shoulder. "Hey it could happen" he chuckles.
When we get to the room I take Rose's hand and Arron follows us to Rose's bedroom. I let go of her hand and she starts twirling around the room. I go over and open the paints "rose. Come here sweetie" I call out to her and she runs over "do you want these walls yellow and the others pink?" I ask motioning to the two walls facing each other "yes please" she says as she starts twirling again "okay you start on that wall and I'll start on the pink over here. Rose you can help me if you like" I say "okay let me finish dancing first" she says "does that sound okay?" I ask Arron. He grabs my hand and spins me under his arm and holds me against his waist "that sounds excellent love" he says and he gives my a quick kiss on the lips then unravels me and walks over to the wall to start painting and I'm left giggling to myself. "You guys are good at dancing" Rose says twirling towards me. I grab her under the arms and lift her up. "I think I'd prefer to dance with you" I say and start twirling round the floor with her. When I put her down she stares at me and she start laughing again. We start painting the walls and Rose starts singing just for us.
We've finished painting and decorating rose's room and helped her put all her things away and out of the boxes. Now Arron and I are walking back to our room to get cleaned up we got covered in paint. It took us about four and a half hours to finish both rooms. When we got to our room I went and sat on the bed. "I'll go in the shower now." Arron says "okay" I say lifting my feet up and resting them on the bed.
After I come out the shower I wrap a towel around my body and walk into the wardrobe I put on a red vest, a navy cardigan, a navy knee length skirt, red shoes and the necklace from Arron then come out of the closet. "You look great sweetheart" Arron says from the bed "thank you" I say an I walk to my dressing table and put my hair into a French plait round the side of my head. "You ready to go?" Arron asks "yeah" I say and we walk out the door.
After a dinner of chicken, potatoes, broccoli and gravy rose asked to play hide and seek. So now I'm hiding behind a plant pot in the hallway. I can see Kenji hiding behind a door and I can hear my mum helping Rose find us but I don't know where Arron or my dad is.
About ten thirty after I found Rose asleep hiding behind a shelf in her room we all decided to go to bed. Arron and I walked back to our room And got changed for bed and I crawled into the sheets next to him. "I don't think i ever want to play hide and seek again after that" he says "yeah it got a bit repetitive After the first hour." I say and he chuckles "I don't think your going to have a choice wether you want to play it again or not" I say "I suppose not" he pulls me into his arms and rubs my belly. "We better to to sleep" he says "I guess so" I say and he turns the light off. "I love you Juliette Warner" he whispers into my ear "I love you too, Arron Warner" I whisper back "and I love you Alice or Jack Warner" he says and I giggle then there's silence and I know he's asleep. My mind starts to wander. My life is wonderful. I finally have my parents back and I have a little sister, I have brilliant friends who would stand by me no matter what, I have a baby on the way but most importantly I have Arron and I will love him no matter what the cost and I know he feels the same. And just lying here right now, wrapped In Arron's warm embrace I notice this is the end of the beginning of my life.
